Arkansas Quarterback Plans Transfer as Razorbacks Begin Major Rebuild

Amid sweeping changes in Fayetteville, a once-promising quarterback charts a new course in search of playing time and stability.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are heading into a pivotal offseason, and the roster reshuffling has already begun under new head coach Ryan Silverfield. After a tough 2-10 campaign, change was inevitable - and it’s starting at the quarterback position.

Trever Jackson, a former Florida State transfer who spent this past season buried on the Razorbacks’ depth chart, is officially entering the NCAA transfer portal. Once he lands at his next destination, it’ll mark his third program in as many seasons - a winding journey that speaks to both the volatility of modern college football and the resilience of a player still searching for the right fit.

Jackson was a four-star recruit coming out of Orlando, Florida, ranked No. 393 nationally in the 2024 class by the 247Sports Composite. Originally committed to Ole Miss in 2023, he flipped and began his college career at Florida State.

But after seeing the field just once for the Seminoles in 2024, he made the move to Fayetteville. This past season at Arkansas, his role remained limited - just one appearance and a single pass attempt.

Now, Jackson is back on the move, looking for a fresh start and, more importantly, a shot at meaningful playing time.

During his original recruitment, Jackson drew interest from several Group of 5 programs, including Arkansas State and Marshall. That level could make a lot of sense for him now.

With two years of eligibility left and minimal wear from game action, he’s still got time to develop - and the upside that once made him a coveted recruit is still there. A stop in the Sun Belt or another Group of 5 conference could give him the reps he needs to prove he can lead an offense, potentially setting the stage for a Power 4 return down the line.

For Arkansas, Jackson’s departure is one of many dominoes in what’s expected to be a busy offseason. Silverfield has a rebuild on his hands, and that means evaluating every position - especially quarterback - with a fresh lens. The Razorbacks will be looking to reset their offensive identity, and that could open the door for new faces in the QB room.

As for Jackson, the next chapter is all about opportunity. He’s shown flashes of talent, and with the right system and coaching, there’s still time for him to carve out a meaningful college career. The journey hasn’t been linear, but in today’s transfer-heavy landscape, it’s far from over.
