Arkansas QB Trever Jackson Enters Transfer Portal as Razorbacks’ Depth Thins
Arkansas redshirt sophomore quarterback Trever Jackson has officially entered the transfer portal, marking another shift in the Razorbacks’ quarterback room as the program moves into a new era under head coach Ryan Silverfield.
Jackson saw limited action during his time in Fayetteville. He appeared in just one game this past season, attempting a single pass in the Razorbacks’ dominant 52-7 season-opening win over Alabama A&M. Despite his pedigree as a former four-star recruit, Jackson remained third on the depth chart throughout the 2025 season.
Originally from Orlando, Florida, the 6-foot-3, 202-pound signal caller was a standout at Jones High School, where he was ranked the No. 26 quarterback in the 2024 class and the No. 54 overall prospect in the state. Jackson’s high school résumé included a trip to the Elite 11 Finals-where he won the "Rail Shot Challenge"-and a senior season where he racked up over 1,700 total yards and 17 touchdowns while leading Jones to the state semifinals. He also had two 100-yard rushing games in the playoffs, including a 172-yard performance in the semifinal round.
Before arriving at Arkansas, Jackson spent his freshman year at Florida State. He redshirted that season, seeing the field just once in a late-November game against Charleston Southern, where he logged two rushing yards.
Jackson becomes the eighth Arkansas player to enter the portal since Silverfield took over the program. His departure leaves the Razorbacks with just two scholarship quarterbacks currently on the roster: redshirt sophomore KJ Jackson and redshirt freshman Grayson Wilson.
KJ Jackson, who also redshirted earlier in his career, has already committed to returning for the 2026 season-a decision he announced during Silverfield’s introductory press conference. Wilson, meanwhile, has yet to publicly confirm his plans for next year.
With Trever Jackson’s exit, Arkansas’ quarterback depth takes a noticeable hit. The team now finds itself in need of at least one-if not two-additional quarterbacks to round out the room heading into spring ball. Whether that help comes from the portal, high school recruiting, or both remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the Razorbacks’ quarterback situation is far from settled.
For now, all eyes turn to KJ Jackson as the likely leader of the room, while the coaching staff evaluates its next move to stabilize the position heading into 2026.
