Arkansas opened the season with a win, but not the kind that leaves much of a glow. The Razorbacks beat FCS North Alabama 31-14 to move to 1-0, yet the performance came with plenty of rough edges and little reason for celebration beyond the final score.

KJ Jackson’s first outing of 2026 was a mixed bag at best. He finished 24 of 35 for 267 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw one interception and spent much of the night under pressure, trying to operate behind an offensive line that struggled to hold up. When there was a pocket, it didn’t last long, and Jackson rarely had the chance to really attack downfield.
That front-line trouble made the whole offense feel stuck in place. Arkansas had a hard time generating push up front against North Alabama, which only sharpens the concern heading into tougher competition. If the Razorbacks are going to be competitive in the SEC this season, the trench play has to improve in a hurry.
One bright spot came from Chris Marshall. The Boise State transfer led Arkansas’s offense on the day with 7 catches for 79 yards, finishing just behind North Alabama’s Xavier Johnson for the game’s top receiving total.
The schedule doesn’t offer much time to settle in. Arkansas heads to Salt Lake City next for a Week 2 matchup with Utah, set for a 9:15 p.m. CT kickoff.
