Arkansas Lands JUCO DL Antonio Sandel-Bascomb in Quick Turnaround Commitment
The Arkansas Razorbacks didn’t waste any time locking in one of their latest defensive line targets. Just a day after extending a scholarship offer, Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College defensive tackle Antonio Sandel-Bascomb gave his verbal commitment to the Hogs - a quick turnaround that speaks volumes about both the player’s readiness and the program’s appeal.
Sandel-Bascomb, a stout 6-foot-3, 305-pound presence in the trenches, brings a blend of size, power, and experience that Arkansas has been actively seeking to bolster its defensive front. He logged 29 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a pass breakup over eight games this past season - solid production that reflects his ability to disrupt plays at the point of attack.
“I decided to pick this school cause I felt like it would be the best opportunity to play under one of the most talented head coaches in football,” Sandel-Bascomb said. “It gives me chances to go be great and eventually play in the league.”
That’s the kind of confidence and ambition you want from a JUCO transfer - someone who’s not just looking to fill a roster spot, but to make an impact and chase a future at the next level. Sandel-Bascomb originally committed to Memphis under Ryan Silverfield, but reopened his recruitment after Silverfield’s departure. With Arkansas stepping in at the right time, the Razorbacks quickly became the frontrunner.
He also held offers from South Alabama and Coastal Carolina, but it was the opportunity to play in the SEC - under a coaching staff with a reputation for developing NFL-caliber talent - that sealed the deal.
Sandel-Bascomb is expected to graduate in May and will arrive on campus with two years of eligibility remaining. That’s a big plus for Arkansas, giving them a plug-and-play interior lineman with time to grow in the system and contribute meaningfully over multiple seasons.
He also mentioned plans to visit Fayetteville for a Razorback basketball game, a chance to get a feel for the campus and the energy around the program before making things official.
This commitment adds to a growing list of defensive line reinforcements for Arkansas. During the early signing period (Dec. 3-5), the Hogs inked Cross County’s Danny Beale III, Little Rock Central’s Anthony Kennedy, and Colton Yarbrough out of Durant, Oklahoma. With Sandel-Bascomb now in the mix, Arkansas continues to stack depth and talent up front - a clear priority as the staff looks to reshape the defensive identity heading into next season.
