Arkansas kept its recruiting momentum rolling with a big win on the back end, landing three-star safety Rashaad Silver of Columbia High School in Decatur, Ga.
Silver, who is listed at 6-2 and 180 pounds, had a long offer sheet that included Auburn, Boston College, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Mississippi State and others. But Arkansas had been making the strongest push for a while, especially after his official visit to Fayetteville on June 5. The Razorbacks also got him on campus for an unofficial visit on May 4, giving the staff an early look at a prospect they clearly targeted hard.
The Hogs offered Silver on January 13, and that early attention paid off. His commitment gives first-year head coach Ryan Silverfield and his staff another defensive back to build around as they continue working the recruiting trail.
Silver’s junior season showed why so many programs came after him. He finished with 41 tackles, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He also brought speed to Columbia’s track program this past year, running 11.31 in the 100 meters and 23.17 in the 200.
According to the 247sports composite rankings, Silver is No. 1048 nationally in the class of 2027 and No. 124 among athletes from Georgia. Arkansas is recruiting him to play safety, even though he currently sits nationally as the No. 104 receiver in this year’s recruiting class.
The Razorbacks are also getting a player who brings value in the classroom. Silver holds a 4.1 GPA, and that same feel for the game shows up on tape. He moves with purpose, reads the quarterback well and helps against the run by setting the edge.
This fits the type of defensive back Arkansas has been chasing throughout the cycle: fast, versatile and ready to help in the secondary. Secondary coach Deron Wilson, who spent the previous two seasons at Florida, has been part of that push.
Arkansas still has work to do, though. Georgia was in Silver’s final three and will keep pressing to flip him and keep him in-state for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
Silver becomes the fifth defensive back commitment in Arkansas’ 2027 class, joining fellow Peach State safety Jameer Cantrell from Buford, along with Kevin Grant of Arlington, Texas; John Caitlin IV of Denton, Texas; and Stanley Peters Jr. of Seminary, Miss. The Razorbacks now have 24 commitments in the class overall.
And there may be more coming soon. Arkansas is also the team to beat for three-star wide receiver Aden Starling, who is set to announce Saturday, July 4, after backing off his pledge to Georgia on May 7.
For Silverfield and Arkansas, the class is starting to take shape fast.

EAs First Silverfield-Era Arkansas Reveal Will Sting Razorback Fans
EA SPORTS College Football 27 has started rolling out team ratings ahead of its July 9 release, and the early read on Arkansas is not especially flattering. The Razorbacks landed at 80 overall, which puts them at the bottom of the SEC in the game, a marker that says as much about the perception of the roster as it does about the fresh start underway in Fayetteville.
There are a few bright spots buried in the ratings, with Quincy Rhodes checking in as the highest-rated Razorback at 90 overall and Jelani Watkins drawing attention for his elite speed. Still, the bigger storyline is how the new-look roster is being viewed before a snap has been played, especially with KJ Jacksons rating leaving Arkansas looking like it has plenty to prove in the upcoming season.
