Arkansas Just Landed A Texas Linebacker Fans Can Feel Great About

Arkansas secures a promising future as Texas linebacker Bryce Breeden commits, adding depth and talent to the Razorbacks' impressive 2024 recruiting class.

In the world of college football recruiting, few stories capture the imagination quite like that of Bryce Breeden. The standout linebacker from Bridge City, Texas, has officially committed to the University of Arkansas, adding his name to a growing list of promising athletes set to join the Razorbacks.

Standing tall at 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 220 pounds, Breeden's decision was no walk in the park. With offers from a slew of top programs including Northwestern, TCU, Purdue, Arizona, Michigan State, Baylor, Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech, Breeden had his pick of the litter.

Yet, it was the allure of Arkansas that ultimately won him over. "It wasn’t an easy decision," Breeden admitted during his commitment ceremony.

"But with that being said, for the next 4 to 5 years I’ll be taking my academics and talents to the University of Arkansas."

The Razorbacks managed to capture Breeden's attention early in the recruiting process, particularly after coach Ryan Silverfield and his team took the reins in November. Multiple visits to Fayetteville in the spring, capped off by an "amazing" official visit, sealed the deal for Breeden. His enthusiasm was palpable as he reflected on his experience, describing the hospitality and care he received during his visit.

Breeden's stats at Bridge City are nothing short of impressive. Over the past two seasons, he's been a relentless force on the field, racking up 214 tackles, 38 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries, seven forced fumbles, and three recoveries. Such numbers speak volumes about his impact at the 4A level.

Reflecting on his journey, Breeden shared how his path to Division I football wasn't always straightforward. Despite a standout sophomore season with over 116 tackles, recognition was slow to come.

It wasn't until a pivotal moment on March 5, 2025, when a call from Texas Tech changed the trajectory of his recruitment. From that point on, Breeden's stock skyrocketed, culminating in 33 Division I offers.

Narrowing down his choices to six schools-Michigan, TCU, Arkansas, Arizona, Purdue, and Northwestern-Breeden faced a tough decision. Each program presented a compelling case, but Arkansas emerged as the perfect fit for this driven athlete.

Despite his high school success, Breeden's ranking as the No. 76 linebacker in the nation and No. 134 in Texas might seem modest. However, his commitment to Arkansas signifies a major win for the Razorbacks, who are assembling an impressive recruiting class. With Breeden on board, Arkansas now boasts commitments from 23 athletes, securing a No. 29 national ranking according to 247Sports Team Composite Rankings.

The Razorbacks' roster is shaping up nicely, featuring a mix of 4-star and 3-star recruits across various positions. Notable names include 4-star defensive end Keith Richmond and 4-star offensive lineman Alijah Shaw, among others. Breeden joins this talented group, bringing his tenacity and skill to a program eager to make waves in the coming seasons.

As Arkansas continues to build its future, keeping Breeden committed will require ongoing effort. But with his decision now public, Razorback fans can look forward to seeing this dynamic linebacker make his mark in Fayetteville.

John Calipari May Be Closing In On Arkansas Last Big Roster Move

Arkansas 2026-27 roster is starting to take shape under John Calipari, with the staff having already settled most of its incoming class through transfers, commitments and draft-related movement. The Razorbacks have been active in filling out the depth chart, and the latest additions have pushed the program to the point where just one spot remains open.

That last opening now appears tied to a recent visitor who could give Arkansas a true final piece in the frontcourt. The visit went well enough to put the Hogs in a strong position, and a decision is expected soon, which would let Calipari finish the roster and turn the focus fully to what this group might look like once it all comes together. College Football 27 Delivers A Harsh Early Verdict On Arkansas

College Football 27 is almost here, and the Arkansas Razorbacks are getting an early read on where they stand in the new release. Set to hit consoles and PC on July 9, with early access available through EA MVP+ subscriptions and deluxe pre-orders, the games first look at Arkansas is respectable but not especially flattering: an 80 overall team rating, with the offense and defense both sitting in the same neighborhood.

There is some good news buried in the numbers. Arkansas has a 64-player roster in the launch version, and five players are rated 85 or higher, giving the depth chart a little more punch than it had a year ago. Quincy Rhodes Jr. leads the way at 90 overall, but the broader SEC picture still leaves the Razorbacks searching for a little more respect after the initial verdict from the game. [Read more 🡒]

Charlie Collins Suddenly Feels Crucial To Arkansas' Biggest Defensive Concern

Arkansas spent much of the offseason looking for ways to get more heat on opposing quarterbacks, and Charlie Collins suddenly sits near the center of that effort. The junior edge rusher is expected to help anchor Ron Roberts new defense in the JACK linebacker spot, a role that should put him closer to the action and make his versatility more valuable as the Razorbacks sort through their pass-rush options.

Collins path to that opportunity has made the spring picture more interesting, too, because Arkansas is counting on him to settle into a rotation that can raise the floor of the defense. He has sounded comfortable with the fit and believes the position suits what he does best, which is exactly the kind of confidence the Razorbacks need while they work to turn pressure into production.
