John Calipari still hasn’t gotten a commitment in Arkansas’s 2027 class, but that could change soon.
Demarcus Henry, one of the biggest names in the 2027 recruiting cycle, has trimmed his list to four schools: Arkansas, Louisville, North Carolina and Kentucky. The five-star forward, listed at 6-foot-7 out of AZ Compass Prep, said he will announce his college choice later this week.
For Arkansas, this is the kind of swing that can shape an entire recruiting class. Henry has the size, length and athletic pop that make him stand out immediately, but it’s the way he plays that really separates him. He brings defensive impact, high-level athleticism and enough guard-like skill to handle the ball and create when needed.
The Razorbacks appear to have made a strong impression during his visit as well. Kevin McPherson described that trip as an "out of the park grand slam."
Even with Arkansas in the mix, this race is far from decided. North Carolina, Kentucky and Louisville all bring serious pull of their own, and each gives Henry a different path.
North Carolina still carries the weight of a true blueblood, a program with a long line of legends and a reputation that stretches across generations, including Michael Jordan.
Kentucky has that same kind of national brand, along with a long track record of sending players to the league. And there’s a wrinkle here: the coach who helped guide so many of those Kentucky players into the NBA is now at Arkansas, which gives the Razorbacks a very real edge in the conversation.
Louisville also remains firmly in the picture. It has stayed competitive in recent seasons and continues to operate as a basketball-first program, though the ACC’s drop-off in recent years changes the feel of that route a bit.
What Henry values most will decide it. If he wants to be the clear centerpiece and face of a program, Arkansas may not be the cleanest fit. There’s no sign that’s the direction he’s leaning, but it’s something worth watching.
If he wants the combination of a coach who can lift his draft stock and a program positioned to chase conference and national success, Arkansas looks like the most straightforward choice.
There is also the Beckham Black factor. The No. 1 player in the 2027 class appears to be a strong Arkansas lean, which only adds to the possibility that the Razorbacks could land a massive building block.
Henry is scheduled to make his decision on October 30, and Arkansas will be waiting to see whether it can finally break through in the 2027 class.

Arkansas Just Got A Crucial Auburn Detail In A Tough SEC Stretch
Arkansas now knows the final piece of its Week 10 road trip to Auburn, with kickoff set for Nov. 7 at 11:45 a.m. CST and the game slated for SEC Network. It lands in the middle of a demanding SEC run that has already asked plenty of the Razorbacks, and it gives the team a clear target as it keeps navigating a stretch packed with familiar league names and plenty of pressure.
The schedule around Auburn only underscores how important this part of the season is for Arkansas, with Missouri, South Carolina, Texas and LSU all part of the recent and upcoming backdrop. Those matchups carry their own history and recent results, which is exactly why the Razorbacks will be watching every detail they can get as they try to steady things in conference play. Arkansas Is Chasing A Recruiting Opening Rivals May Regret
Arkansas has been working the recruiting trail with a real sense of urgency, and the official-visit calendar has made that clear. The Razorbacks have hosted a steady stream of prospects while continuing to pursue players already committed elsewhere, including recruits tied to Baylor, Maryland and UTSA, as coaching changes around the country have created openings that did not exist a few weeks ago.
For Arkansas, the appeal is obvious: when other programs change direction, the Hogs get a chance to stay in the conversation longer than they otherwise might. Several of the prospects on the board have already made multiple visits or kept close contact with the staff, which is exactly the sort of groundwork that can pay off if any of those commitments start to wobble. Nothing is settled yet, but Arkansas has put itself in position to benefit if the dominoes begin to fall. [Read more 🡒]
Arkansas Faces A Bigger Run Defense Test Against Missouri
Missouris backfield is becoming a storyline again just in time for Arkansas to prepare for one of its toughest defensive chores of the season. Ahmad Hardy is returning to practice this week after recovering from a gunshot wound suffered in May, according to Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz, and while his availability for the game against Arkansas is still up in the air, the Razorbacks know they have to account for him in the buildup.
Ryan Silverfield has already pointed to Missouris rushing attack and the way the Tigers structure their offense as a major challenge for Arkansas. Even if Hardys status remains unresolved for now, the Razorbacks are dealing with a matchup that demands attention at the line of scrimmage and leaves little room for mistakes against a ground game that has given opponents plenty to think about.
