Arkansas Gymnastics Shines With Three Podium Finishes at SEC Championships

Arkansas Gymbacks shine at SEC Championships with standout performances, setting records despite a seventh-place finish.

Arkansas gymnastics kicked off their postseason journey with a spirited performance at the SEC Championships, finishing seventh out of nine teams with a commendable score of 196.975.

Florida claimed the team title with an impressive 198.175, followed closely by Oklahoma at 198.150. LSU secured third place with 197.950, and Alabama rounded out the top four with 197.475.

Georgia and Missouri placed fifth and sixth, posting scores of 197.450 and 197.075, respectively. Kentucky and Auburn completed the standings with scores of 196.925 and 195.300.

Sophomore standout Joscelyn Roberson made waves in her SEC Championships debut, posting an all-around score of 39.575. Her performance was the highlight of the afternoon session, earning her sixth place overall. Roberson also snagged a share of the beam silver medal with a stunning 9.950, marking the highest individual finish for an Arkansas gymnast at the SEC Championships since Sophia Carter's floor success in 2021.

Senior Morgan Price made her mark with a third-place finish on vault, scoring 9.925 in her first SEC appearance. Freshman Allison Cucci also impressed, achieving a 39.500 all-around score, the highest for any freshman in either session.

Arkansas’ team score of 196.975 is the second-highest in their SEC history, and the best under head coach Jordyn Wieber. The Gymbacks shone on beam, posting a 49.350, their second-best beam score ever at SECs.

Vault

After a 9.675 from Weaver, Roberson got Arkansas back on track with a solid 9.850. Cucci delivered Arkansas’ first Yurchenko 1.5 of the day, landing a 9.800.

Hailey Klein followed with a 9.750, while Williams posted a 9.825. Morgan Price anchored with a superb 9.925, bringing the vault total to 49.150.

Bars

Roberson led off with a strong 9.875. Despite a 9.675 from Klein, Leah Smith steadied the lineup with another 9.875. Cucci and Price added scores of 9.850 and 9.750, respectively, culminating in a 49.125 on bars.

Beam

Priscilla Park and Klein opened beam with matching 9.850s, followed by Weaver’s 9.800. Cucci continued her stellar day with a 9.900, sticking her landing.

Price added a 9.750 before Roberson anchored with a phenomenal 9.950, featuring a perfect 10 from one judge. The team wrapped up beam with a 49.350, their second-highest ever at SECs.

Floor

Klein and Cucci kicked off the floor rotation with scores of 9.825 and 9.850. Smith kept the momentum with a 9.900, while Frankie Price added a 9.875. Williams scored a 9.750, and Roberson closed with another 9.900, bringing the floor total to 49.350.

The Gymbacks await their regional seeding announcement on Monday, March 23, during the NCAA Gymnastics Selection show. Regionals are set for April 2-5, with host sites including LSU, Kentucky, Arizona State, and Oregon State.
