Arkansas Fans Just Got A Wild Player Of The Week Debate

In a week filled with record-breaking scores and standout performances, vote now to decide which Arkansas high school football star takes home the title of Player of the Week.

Week 9 in Arkansas high school football was packed with fireworks, and the Player of the Week race reflects just how many box scores got lit up.

There was the kind of night Sheridan will remember for a long time, with the Yellowjackets dropping 91 points on Sylvan Hills in the highest-scoring game in state history. There was also a double-overtime thriller in which one team scored 62 and still came up short. Across the state, offenses kept piling up yards, touchdowns and big plays, giving this week’s voting plenty of options.

Before getting to the latest nominees, a quick nod to last week’s winner: D’Mareon Eason of Lonoke. The senior receiver/defensive back caught six passes for 112 yards and a touchdown, added a 64-yard rushing score and broke up three passes on defense in the Jackrabbits’ 49-20 win against Heber Springs.

Here are the Week 9 nominees:

Burton was a wrecking ball for the Tigers, rushing for 202 yards on just nine carries and scoring four touchdowns. He also added four two-point conversion plays in the 38-28 win at Charleston.

The senior delivered a huge all-around outing for the Bearcats, running seven times for 157 yards and two touchdowns while also throwing for 99 yards and a score in the 48-45 win against Paragould.

Cleveland, a junior quarterback, put together one of the week’s biggest stat lines in the Razorbacks’ 63-62 double-overtime win over Pine Bluff. He completed 20-of-28 passes for 216 yards and four touchdowns, then added eight carries for 121 yards, including a 99-yard touchdown.

Eldridge was the engine for the Saints in a wild 51-48 win at Bentonville West, carrying 30 times for 193 yards and five touchdowns. Three of those scores came in the final quarter.

Foreman, a sophomore, scored three rushing touchdowns and added a two-point conversion as the Miners rolled past Heber Springs, 44-20.

French turned in a complete performance in the Panthers’ 39-26 win against Fouke. He rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns, caught four passes for 59 yards and two more scores, and also intercepted two passes. All four of his touchdowns came in the second half.

Jackson was a big target in the Airedales’ 32-26 win against Harrison, hauling in eight catches for 149 yards and three touchdowns.

Nashville stayed undefeated in 2026 thanks in part to a huge passing day from its quarterback, who completed 19-of-28 throws for 328 yards and five touchdowns in a 46-28 win over Malvern.

McAlister, a sophomore quarterback, stuffed the stat sheet in the Wildcats’ 58-36 win against Hackett. He rushed for 193 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries, completed 2-of-3 passes for 27 yards and another score, and even returned a kickoff 55 yards for a touchdown.

McNabb made his mark on both sides of the ball in the Devil Dogs’ 28-6 win against Pea Ridge, catching four passes for 76 yards and a touchdown while also picking off two passes.

Plumlee, a junior quarterback/defensive back, was efficient through the air and dangerous on the ground in the Mustangs’ 36-7 win against Benton Harmony Grove. He went 13-of-15 passing for 189 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, and added eight tackles and a pass breakup on defense.

The junior receiver had a steady day for the Comets, catching nine passes for 89 yards and a touchdown in the 37-34 win against Jacksonville.

Smith was at the center of Sheridan’s record-setting night, catching 13 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns while also scoring a two-point conversion in the Yellowjackets’ 91-65 win against Sylvan Hills. Sheridan moved to 9-0 and clinched its first conference title since 1987, and Smith’s performance came as quarterback Easton Barksdale threw for 722 yards and eight scores.

Toney helped the Elks take control of their conference in a 41-34 win over Gravette, finishing with seven catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Wilken led the Mounties to a major 7A-West upset, completing 12-of-21 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown in a 37-28 win against Springdale Har-Ber.

Voting remains open until Sunday, Nov. 8 at 11:59 p.m. PT, and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Arkansas Faces A Troubling Auburn Trend At The Worst Time

The build-up to Arkansas trip to Auburn comes with a wrinkle that has made this matchup feel a little less predictable than the records suggest. The road team has won the last five meetings between the schools, and that history hangs over a game that already carries plenty of pressure for both sides. Auburn head coach Alex Golesh has seen enough to know this series has not followed the usual script, while Ryan Silverfield is trying to steer Arkansas into a cleaner performance after an offense that has had trouble finding consistency.

For the Razorbacks, the timing is especially awkward because Auburns season has given the Tigers enough momentum to make them dangerous at home, even if the broader results have been uneven. Arkansas, meanwhile, is still trying to sort out its offensive issues before they become the defining problem of the stretch run. A road trip like this can either help reset a team or deepen the frustration, and the recent history between these programs suggests the margin for error may be smaller than usual. [Read more 🡒]

Arkansas Already Has One Early Strength And One Clear Concern

The early returns at Bud Walton Arena looked encouraging for Arkansas, which took a 47-28 lead over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at halftime of the season opener. Georgia transfer guard Jeremiah Wilkinson gave the Razorbacks a quick spark, scoring 14 first-half points with three triples, while Arkansas also piled up 20 fastbreak points and turned in a strong defensive effort on the other end.

Still, the first half also showed the kind of detail that can linger once the pace settles down. Arkansas was not as sharp at the free throw line, shooting 65.2 percent before the break, a number that can matter more once the competition tightens and the margin shrinks. [Read more 🡒]

Arkansas Fans Got Two New Pro Hogs To Brag About Sunday

Week 8 gave Arkansas fans a familiar kind of Sunday, with several former Razorbacks popping up on NFL rosters and making their presence felt in different ways. The roundup was headlined by Mike Washington Jr. for the Las Vegas Raiders and Treylon Burks for the Washington Commanders, a reminder that the pipeline from Fayetteville to the league is still producing names worth tracking every week.

Beyond those two, the rest of the former Hogs logged a mix of snaps, tackles, receptions and other game action across the league. It was the sort of update that keeps Arkansas followers checking box scores and snap counts, because even when the stat lines are modest, the broader picture is the same: plenty of Razorbacks are still carving out roles on Sundays.
