Clear your Saturday morning schedule-College GameDay is headed back to Tucson.
For the fourth time in program history, Arizona men’s basketball will host ESPN’s College GameDay, and McKale Center is set to be the epicenter of college hoops on February 14. The Wildcats, currently the No. 1 team in the nation and still undefeated, are gearing up for a marquee showdown against Texas Tech, a matchup that carries serious NCAA Tournament implications.
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Arizona fans. The last time GameDay rolled into Tucson was back in February 2022, when then-No.
3 Arizona edged out Oregon 84-81 in a thriller during head coach Tommy Lloyd’s first season. That game helped solidify Arizona’s return to national prominence-and now, two years later, they’re not just back, they’re leading the pack.
The decision to spotlight this game felt inevitable. With Arizona’s dominant run and Texas Tech’s rise into the top 25, this clash checks all the boxes: two tournament-bound teams, major seeding implications, and a raucous desert crowd that knows how to show out.
This will be Texas Tech’s second GameDay appearance this season, after their high-octane 90-86 win over Houston in Lubbock last month. Clearly, the Red Raiders know how to deliver when the lights are brightest.
For Arizona, this marks their fourth time hosting GameDay, putting them in a tie for eighth-most all-time and the most of any school west of Kansas. That’s a testament not just to the program’s consistency, but to the energy and passion that Tucson brings to college basketball. When McKale is rocking, it’s one of the toughest places to play in the country-and the GameDay crew knows it.
So, whether you're a Wildcats diehard or just a fan of high-stakes college hoops, this one’s a can’t-miss. Two top-tier teams, a national spotlight, and a crowd that’s going to bring the heat. Tucson is ready.
