Arizona Just Landed A 2027 Quarterback With A Hidden Wildcats Tie

Three-star quarterback Caden Jones has committed to the Arizona Wildcats, bolstering their 2027 class with a promising addition from Crean Lutheran.

Arizona added a major piece to its 2027 class on Friday when three-star quarterback Caden Jones announced his commitment.

Jones, a Southern California prospect, chose the Wildcats over Baylor and Washington. He also becomes the fourth Class of 2027 player from Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, Calif., to commit to Arizona.

The timing fits a busy stretch for Brent Brennan and his staff. Arizona wrapped up Official Visit Season two weeks ago, and with the Dead Period now in effect through the end of July, the Wildcats saw their June work pay off at an important spot.

Jones is also the younger brother of current Arizona redshirt freshman linebacker Carter Jones.

On the field, Jones has been a varsity player at Crean Lutheran all three seasons. His junior year was his biggest yet: 3,044 passing yards on 244 completions in 326 attempts, along with 30 touchdown passes and just one interception. He also ran for 261 yards on 31 carries and scored once.

His first two seasons added more proof of his versatility. Over 14 games as a freshman and sophomore, Jones completed 90 of 122 passes for 1,069 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. He also logged 19 carries for 44 yards and two rushing scores.

Jones has drawn recruiting attention in basketball as well.

The quarterback reported 40 offers and picked Arizona over a long list that included Arizona State, Auburn, California, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, TCU, UCLA, Utah and Wisconsin.

247Sports lists him as a high three-star. Internally, he ranks as the No. 36 quarterback and the No. 43 player in California. In the Composite, Jones is the No. 613 player nationally, the No. 36 quarterback and the 47th-best player in California.

Why JayVion Cole Now Defines Arizonas Secondary Entering Big 12 Media Days

Arizona is heading to Big 12 Media Days in Frisco with seven players and coach Brent Brennan, and one of the clearest faces of the programs defensive identity is redshirt senior cornerback Jay'Vion Cole. After a season that included four interceptions and a pick-six, Cole has become more than a standout cover man for the Wildcats. He is now one of the players teammates and coaches point to when talking about how this secondary is supposed to function in a new conference and a bigger spotlight.

Coles rise matters because Arizona is trying to establish credibility in the Big 12 right away, and the secondary figures to be a major part of that push. The Wildcats have praised his performance and his presence in the room, and the expectation around him keeps growing as the season approaches. What happens next for Cole could say plenty about Arizonas defense, and maybe even about how far his name can travel beyond Tucson once the games start for real. [Read more 🡒]

Two Arizona Stars Just Reached Major NBA Crossroads

Two former Arizona standouts found themselves in the middle of NBA roster churn this week, a reminder of how quickly the league can reshape a players path. Deandre Aytons contract situation was resolved as part of a trade that sent him on to a new stop, while the Lakers brought back Jaden Hardy and two second-round picks in the deal.

Caleb Loves path took a different turn, with the former Wildcats guard landing a two-way opportunity after his first pro season in Portland. For Arizona fans, it is another snapshot of a program still producing players who keep moving through the NBAs ever-changing middle class, and in Loves case there is at least one familiar face waiting in Philadelphia.
