Sun Devils Fall to TCU in Stunning Conference Opener Showdown

Sun Devil Women's Tennis, ranked No. 6, faced a surprising setback against No. 33 TCU, losing 4-0 in their conference opener in Fort Worth.

In a Friday evening showdown at the Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas, the No. 6-ranked Arizona State Sun Devil Women's Tennis team faced a tough start to their conference play, falling to No. 33 TCU with a 4-0 scoreline.

Despite the setback, the Sun Devils showed moments of promise. Graduate Vivian Ovrootsky continued her impressive form, extending her streak with a 17th consecutive set win.

She was locked in a tense 5-all battle when the match concluded. Junior Sara Svetac also displayed resilience, capturing the second set 6-4 to push for a decisive third set before TCU sealed the victory on court six.

The doubles matches saw TCU take control early. Gomez O’Hayon and Tsai dominated Ovrootsky and Svetac with a 6-0 win.

Meanwhile, Cabellero Chica and Jackson secured a 6-1 victory over Nupbay and Taylor. The pairing of Gay and Main was leading Tverijonaite and Evans 3-4 when play was halted.
