Sun Devil Volleyball Dominates Big 12 Awards, Noemie Glover Named Player of the Year
The Sun Devil Volleyball program is making history-and doing it with authority. After locking up back-to-back Big 12 titles, Arizona State rolled into awards season with a clean sweep of major honors, headlined by junior opposite Noemie Glover taking home Big 12 Player of the Year and head coach JJ Van Niel earning his third straight Coach of the Year nod.
Let’s start with Glover. The junior opposite has been an absolute force this season, and now she’s officially the first Sun Devil in program history to be named Conference Player of the Year.
That’s no small feat, especially in a league as competitive as the Big 12. Her selection to the All-Big 12 First Team was a given, but this individual honor cements her as one of the most dominant players to ever wear maroon and gold.
She’s not alone on that First Team, either. Senior outside hitter Bailey Miller and graduate middle blocker Colby Neal joined her on the All-Big 12 First Team, giving Arizona State a powerful trio that’s been at the heart of their championship run. Whether it’s Miller’s consistency from the pins or Neal’s presence at the net, these veterans have been instrumental in the team’s success on both ends of the court.
On the defensive side, sophomore libero Faith Frame earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team. Frame has been the anchor of the Sun Devils’ back row, consistently making the kind of gritty, game-saving plays that don’t always show up on the stat sheet but win matches. Her growth from year one to year two has been one of the more underrated storylines of this season.
Then there’s redshirt freshman Kiylah Presley, who landed on the Big 12 All-Rookie Team. Presley is the first Sun Devil to make a conference rookie or freshman team since Marta Levinska did it back in 2020. That’s elite company, and Presley’s explosive athleticism and raw talent suggest she’s just getting started.
And of course, there’s JJ Van Niel. With his third-straight Big 12 Coach of the Year award, Van Niel is now officially in rare air-not just in Sun Devil history, but across the entire Big 12.
He’s the first Arizona State coach to win three conference coach of the year honors, and one of only seven Sun Devil coaches in any sport to earn that distinction three years running. Among them are Sun Devil legends like Linda Vollstedt and John Spini, both Hall of Famers.
Van Niel also becomes one of just four coaches in Big 12 history to win the award in consecutive seasons. That’s the kind of consistency that builds dynasties.
This haul of awards isn’t just a celebration of individual excellence-it’s a reflection of a program that’s firing on all cylinders. From top-tier coaching to elite-level talent across every position, Arizona State Volleyball isn’t just winning games. They’re setting a new standard.
With their trophy case getting a little more crowded and their roster filled with both proven stars and rising talent, the Sun Devils are making it clear: they’re not done yet.
