Sun Devil Water Polo Keeps Rolling with Unbeaten Run at ASU Invitational
TEMPE - The Sun Devil Water Polo team is making a statement early in the season, and it’s coming through a wave of dominance in their own backyard. No. 6 Arizona State went a perfect 6-0 over the weekend at the ASU Invitational, pushing their record to 14-1 and extending their home tournament win streak to 11 straight games.
This wasn’t just about beating teams - it was about doing it with authority, poise, and depth. ASU opened the weekend with a marquee matchup against No.
10 Fresno State on Friday night and showed they’re ready to go toe-to-toe with the top-tier programs. The Sun Devils pulled out a 13-11 win in a tightly contested battle, setting the tone for what would be a dominant stretch.
From there, it was all gas, no brakes. On Saturday, ASU turned up the heat with a pair of convincing wins - a 17-5 rout over Pacific followed by a 16-5 victory against Marist.
Senior attacker Millie Quin, one of the team’s veteran leaders, was in top form, scoring six goals across the two games. Freshman Iris Vreeling also made her presence felt, notching a hat trick against Pacific and continuing to show why she’s quickly becoming a name to watch.
Sunday brought more of the same. The Sun Devils opened the day with a 20-3 blowout over Cal Lutheran, flexing their offensive firepower while staying locked in defensively.
They followed that with a 15-10 win over No. 19 San Diego State and capped off the weekend with a 20-9 victory against UCSB, putting an exclamation point on a dominant showing from start to finish.
And while the offense was firing on all cylinders, the backbone of this team - the goalkeeping duo of Sanne Keijzer and Keri Glad - deserves just as much credit. Keijzer, the senior leader between the pipes, was a wall all weekend.
She racked up 41 saves across the tournament, including a jaw-dropping 18-save performance against Marist and another 17 stops against SDSU. Sophomore Keri Glad also stepped up, tallying 22 saves, including 10 in the win over Cal Lutheran.
Looking at the box scores, it’s clear this team isn’t leaning on just one or two players. The scoring was spread out, and the depth is showing up in a big way.

Whether it’s the veterans like Quin and Keijzer leading the charge or newcomers like Vreeling stepping up, this team looks balanced, confident, and ready for the challenges ahead.
With two straight undefeated home tournaments under their belt, Arizona State is building serious momentum. If this weekend was any indication, the Sun Devils aren’t just winning - they’re building something that could carry deep into the season.
