UConn’s recruiting machine has struck again, and this time the Huskies are adding a familiar name with a big-time basketball profile behind it. NaVorro Bowman Jr., the five-star guard and son of former NFL All-Pro NaVorro Bowman, has committed to Dan Hurley’s program, according to Rivals reporter Joe Tipton.
Bowman Jr. is listed as a 6-foot-3 point guard and sits at No. 11 in the 2027 class. He’s also rated as one of the top guard prospects in the country by 247Sports, which gives him a 98 out of 100 player rating. For UConn, it’s another major win on the recruiting trail in a cycle that already has the basketball world paying attention.
The offers tell the story of just how sought-after Bowman Jr. was. Alabama, Arizona, Illinois and Texas were all in the mix, but UConn won out and landed one of the class’s elite names.
Bowman Jr. has already built out a résumé that matches the hype. He helped lead Team USA to the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup gold medal, a clear sign that his game is tracking at a high level.
The family name is a big one, too. His father, NaVorro Bowman, was a standout linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers for eight seasons, earned four NFL All-Pro honors, and also spent time with the Oakland Raiders from 2010 to 2017 before retiring a few months after joining the team in his final pro season.
For Hurley and UConn, this is the kind of commitment that keeps the program operating at the top of the sport. And if Bowman Jr. keeps climbing the way he has so far, the Huskies may have another player with the kind of upside that fits right into their NBA pipeline.
