Texas A&M gets its first real measuring-stick game of the 2026 season on Saturday, and the matchup at Kyle Field gives one Aggies defender a chance to announce himself in a hurry.
After opening with a 50-0 shutout of Missouri State, the Aggies now turn to Arizona State, which arrives in College Station fresh off a 70-7 win over Morgan State. The Sun Devils were rolling in that opener, piling up 681 yards of total offense and averaging close to 10 yards per play.
That kind of production puts the spotlight on Texas A&M’s pass rush, because slowing an offense built to attack through the air starts with getting pressure on the quarterback. For the Aggies, graduate edge rusher Anto Saka is one of the names to watch.
Saka, a transfer from Northwestern, came to College Station to help replace the pass rush Texas A&M lost after the 2025 season. His first game in an Aggies uniform didn’t create much noise - he finished with a tackle and a fumble recovery - but the tools are there for a bigger showing.
Arizona State’s passing game already flashed its firepower last week, with Cutter Boley completing 21 of 27 passes for nearly 400 yards and six touchdowns. That sets up a night where Texas A&M’s defensive front should have chances to attack, and Saka’s ability to line up in different spots along the edge only adds to his chances of making a splash.
