Arizona State has landed a transfer wing with real two-way production in Dillan Shaw, a player whose freshman season at Saint Mary’s put him firmly on the national radar.
Shaw arrives with plenty of buzz attached. He was rated the No. 102 overall transfer prospect and No. 17 small forward by 247 Sports, No. 114 overall and No. 15 at small forward by Rivals ON3, and No. 5 nationally among off-ball wing transfer prospects by CBS Sports.
The numbers from his first college season explain why he drew that kind of attention. Shaw played in every game for the Gaels as a true freshman, then moved into the starting lineup for the final 22 contests. He averaged 7.5 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 41.6% from three-point range, a strong blend of scoring, rebounding and perimeter efficiency for a first-year player.
His breakthrough stretch started with his first collegiate start against FAU on Dec. 19, and he kept rolling from there. Shaw earned WCC Freshman of the Week honors after putting up 18 points at LMU on 12/28/25. He reached double figures 10 times overall, including a career-high 20 points and six assists against Seattle U on 1/4/26.
He also made his presence felt on the glass in a big way. Shaw became the first Saint Mary’s true freshman since Omar Samhan in 2006 to post a double-double when he finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds against San Diego on 2/4/26. Later in the season, he logged his second double-double against future NCAA Tournament participant Santa Clara on 2/25/26, scoring 11 points and grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds.
The rebounding surge wasn’t a one-night thing. Shaw had 16 games with at least five rebounds, including each of his final four, and averaged 9.3 rebounds per game over that closing stretch. Across the WCC, he finished with the 14th-most rebounds overall and the 11th-most in conference play.
He also brought more than just scoring and boards. Shaw finished in the top 20 among WCC players in blocked shots with 20 and three-pointers made with 52, and he was one of only two players in the league to hit both of those marks. In WCC play, he logged 32.3 minutes per game, the 13th-highest total in the conference.
Before college, Shaw was already a highly regarded prospect. He was ranked No. 89 in the 2025 high school class by 247Sports and was the 10th-ranked player from California, making him the highest-rated high school signee in Saint Mary’s program history according to 247.
