Ketel Marte Is Suddenly The Dbacks Bat Everyone Is Watching

Deck: Discover which MLB stars offer the best odds for home run prop bets as today's matchups present prime opportunities for savvy bettors.

Monday’s 13-game MLB slate gives bettors plenty to sift through in the home run market, and three names stand out: Ketel Marte, Jackson Chourio and Pete Crow-Armstrong.

The most appealing play on the board is Marte, who gets a rivalry matchup with the San Francisco Giants and right-hander Tyler Mahle. Marte has absolutely handled Mahle in his career, going 8-for-15 with a .533 average and a 1.696 OPS.

That damage includes five extra-base hits and a pair of home runs. He’s also coming in hot, batting .304 with four homers over the last two weeks and going deep in three of his last four games.

Mahle has not been sharp in 2026 either, carrying a 5.49 ERA over 12 starts and allowing 11 home runs, which makes Marte the top target for Monday.

Chourio is another strong option as the Brewers meet the Cincinnati Reds. Milwaukee’s young star has 11 home runs in 47 games this season and has been on a tear over the past month, launching nine homers while hitting .324.

The matchup is appealing because Cincinnati is sending lefty Nick Lodolo to the mound, and Lodolo has had a rough 2026. He owns a 5.59 ERA, has given up eight homers in nine outings and the Reds are just 2-7 straight up when he starts.

Chourio has punished left-handed pitching this year, batting .345 with four homers and a .979 OPS against southpaws. He’s also 3-for-9 with a double against Lodolo, so even without a homer yet in that matchup, the profile is there.

Pete Crow-Armstrong rounds out the list for the Cubs against Padres right-hander Griffin Canning. Crow-Armstrong already has 17 homers this season and has done a lot of his damage lately, homering five times over the last two weeks while batting .340 with a 1.211 OPS.

He has also homered once against Canning in his career and is 1-for-3 against him overall. Canning’s numbers make the case even stronger: a 7.38 ERA in 10 appearances, with 45 hits and eight home runs allowed in 42.2 innings.

Crow-Armstrong has 13 homers against right-handed pitching and 10 of his blasts this month, making him a live power play even at +266.

D Backs Prospect Demetrio Crisantes Just Delivered His Loudest Statement Yet

Demetrio Crisantes added a new line to his breakout season Sunday in Amarillo, where the 21-year-old shortstop for the Sod Poodles hit for the cycle in an 18-4 rout of the Frisco RoughRiders at HODGETOWN. For the Diamondbacks, who have been tracking Crisantes closely as their No. 5 prospect, it was the kind of all-fields, all-around performance that reinforces why his rise has been one of the more encouraging developments in the system this season.

The cycle also carried a bit of franchise trivia with it, marking the first home cycle for the Sod Poodles since the clubs 2019 rebranding. Crisantes has already been swinging it well this year, and the broader question now is how much louder his bat can get from here as he continues to separate himself in Double-A. [Read more 🡒]

Diamondbacks Suddenly Have A Zac Gallen Problem They Can't Ignore

Zac Gallen has gone from one of the most reliable arms in the rotation to a pitcher the Diamondbacks can no longer treat as a routine answer every fifth day. The numbers are ugly, with a league-worst 6.15 ERA underscoring just how far the right-hander has fallen, and the concern in Arizona is no longer about a brief rough stretch but about a deeper erosion in effectiveness.

Opposing hitters appear to have adjusted to the way Gallen sequences his pitches, and the stuff itself is not missing bats the way it once did. Reduced spin rate and movement, especially on his knuckle curve, have made his offerings easier to pick up, leaving the Diamondbacks facing a much bigger question than simple command or confidence: whether Gallen needs a real reinvention of his arsenal, with coaching help, to get back on track.
