The Utah Mammoth have quietly put together an offseason that has people around the league taking notice. One of the louder takes came from Pro Hockey Rumors, which slotted Utah inside its top 10 NHL teams heading into 2026-27.
Marcus Antonelli’s read on the Mammoth was full of praise for where this group is headed and how far it has already come:

Both give leadership and experience to the younger players.
Last year, the Mammoth also addressed their back-end in trading for , which makes a good pairing alongside . That’s a pretty strong case for Utah. The Mammoth added help in a lot of places, and the mix of veteran presence and younger talent gives the roster a much different look than it had before. Trocheck and Lee bring experience and leadership to a team still built around rising players, and Trocheck in particular has been an impressive addition.
The big swing for Utah is whether the young core can keep climbing. Players like Guenther and Logan Cooley are part of that answer, along with the other stars already in place. Exactly how high this team can go is still an open question, but the ingredients are there for something special.
