The Tucson Roadrunners have added another piece up front, signing forward Jack Ricketts to a one-year AHL contract.
General manager John Ferguson pointed to what Ricketts showed in his first pro season and made it clear the organization expects more. “After an outstanding collegiate career, Jack proved last season that he could play and contribute at the American Hockey League level,” Ferguson said. “We will look for continued improvement from him this season.”
Ricketts, 26, split his rookie year between Tucson and the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL in 2025-26. He produced 10 points with the Roadrunners, scoring five goals and adding five assists, along with 12 penalty minutes in 31 games. In Utah, he posted 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists with 36 penalty minutes in 30 games.
Before his Jan. 21, 2026 recall to Tucson, Ricketts had climbed into a prominent role with the Grizzlies. He ranked third on the team in goals and fifth in both points and assists. He made his AHL debut that same day against the San Diego Gulls and stayed with the Roadrunners the rest of the season.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound forward originally signed with Tucson ahead of the 2025-26 season after five collegiate years split between Quinnipiac and Holy Cross. Over 158 career NCAA games, he put up 114 points, including 66 goals and 48 assists, while collecting 187 penalty minutes.
His final college stop at Quinnipiac was a big one. After four seasons at Holy Cross, the Oakville, Ontario, native transferred to the Bobcats for 2024-25 as the nation’s leading active NCAA goal scorer with 46 career goals.
He helped Quinnipiac win the ECAC Hockey regular-season championship and finished with 27 points, 20 goals and seven assists, plus 47 penalty minutes, in 38 games. His 20 goals led the team and set a new personal best.
Ricketts also left a mark in the record book. He scored four goals against American International College on Dec. 29, 2024, setting Quinnipiac’s Division I single-game record. At season’s end, he was named the ECAC Best Defensive Forward and earned a spot on the ECAC Second All-Star Team for 2024-25.
At Holy Cross, Ricketts totaled 87 points, with 46 goals and 41 assists, and 140 penalty minutes in 120 games. He wore the captain’s letter in 2023-24, was on the preseason All-Atlantic Hockey list, and posted a career-high 35 points on 19 goals and 16 assists in 39 games. He also served as an assistant captain in 2022-23 and was a two-time All-Atlantic Hockey Second Team pick in 2022-23 and 2023-24.
