The Utah Mammoth are sending Daniil But back to Tucson.
Utah announced Friday that the 21-year-old forward has been assigned to the Tucson Roadrunners, the club’s AHL affiliate, after appearing in 13 NHL games this season. In that stretch with Utah, But put up four points with two goals and two assists, finished at plus-three, and averaged 10:30 of ice time.
But’s NHL sample is still small, but the organization has already seen what he can do in Tucson. During his rookie season in the AHL in 2025-26, the 6-foot-5, 203-pound winger produced 39 points with 19 goals and 20 assists in 41 games, along with 38 penalty minutes and six power-play goals.
He paced the Roadrunners in points per game at 0.95, which ranked fourth among AHL rookies. His 19 goals tied for eighth among AHL rookies and stood as the fourth-most by a Roadrunner rookie in a single season in team history.
Across parts of the last two NHL seasons, But has collected 11 points with five goals and six assists in 42 games, plus a plus-four rating and eight penalty minutes.
Before coming to North America last season, the Yaroslavl, Russia native spent three seasons with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the KHL from 2022-25. He totaled 51 points with 21 goals and 30 assists in 124 games there and was part of Lokomotiv’s first KHL championship team in 2024-25, alongside Mammoth defenseman Dmitri Simashev.
But is in his second season with the organization after signing an entry-level contract with Utah on May 28, 2025. He was originally selected 12th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2023 NHL Draft.
The Roadrunners finish their road trip Saturday against the Ontario Reign at Toyota Arena, with puck drop set for 3 p.m. MST. The game will be shown live on AHLTV on FloHockey.
