Week 4 of the Arizona high school football season had a little of everything, and the latest High School On SI Top 25 reflects it.
No. 1 changed hands, multiple ranked teams were pushed around, and a few of the state’s hottest offenses kept rolling. The biggest shakeup came after Basha knocked off then-No.
1 Liberty 30-22, a result that sent Hamilton to the top spot, moved Centennial up to No. 2 and dropped Liberty to No. 3.
Basha’s win also pulled the Bears right back into the Open Division conversation as the calendar turns toward October.
Hamilton earned the No. 1 ranking by staying perfect with a 44-25 win over Casteel. Running back Devante Roebuck powered that performance with 146 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The Huskies have stacked up an impressive first month, with wins over Brophy College Prep, Perry and Casteel, which entered last week ranked. Hamilton now heads to No.
14 Williams Field on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
Centennial made its move by taking down Mesa 20-7 and climbing two spots. Derrion Bartholomew ran for 133 yards and a touchdown, while Torrin Hill caught six passes for 184 yards and a score.
The Coyotes’ defense has been the real separator: through four games, no opponent has topped 14 points, and Centennial has outscored the opposition 93-34. Next up is a trip to No.
25 Casteel on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
Liberty’s unbeaten run ended in the most frustrating way possible, with turnovers derailing the offense and the defense giving up a season-high 30 points in the loss to Basha. The Lions head to No. 18 ALA-Queen Creek on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. looking to reset.
Chandler is starting to look like a team that has fully shaken off its Week 1 loss to Basha. The Wolves won their third straight, beating ALA-Queen Creek 37-21 behind Oregon quarterback commit Will Mencl, who overcame two interceptions to throw three touchdown passes and run for another score.
Mencl has now thrown for 1,398 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Chandler gets another major test at No.
9 Brophy College Prep on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
Basha’s own turnaround came after a rough Week 3 loss to Pinnacle. Against Liberty, the Bears snapped a two-game skid behind Princeton quarterback commit Jake Rogers and Texas running back commit Noah Roberts, even while dealing with a long injury list.
Basha was missing seven players, and Rogers was banged up during the game, but with his shoulder wrapped he still guided an eight-play, 80-yard touchdown drive to open the second half. The Bears visit No.
12 Red Mountain on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
Pinnacle kept its momentum going after the upset of Basha, rolling past Queen Creek 28-7. Quarterback Braxton Lowe threw for 100 yards and rushed for another 100 while accounting for two touchdowns.
The Pioneers’ Week 5 game against Saguaro has already been forfeited by the Sabercats, and they are scheduled to play Valley Vista in Week 6 before a Week 7 matchup with No. 1 Hamilton.
Desert Mountain has been just as sharp on the other side of the state. The Wolves crushed Mountain Pointe 54-0 to improve to 4-0, and they’ve now outscored their last two opponents 119-0. They host Kellis on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
Perry followed a competitive showing against Hamilton with a 49-0 rout of Boulder Creek. Boise State quarterback commit Kael Snyder threw five touchdown passes and finished with 238 passing yards. The Pumas have a tough stretch ahead with Salpointe Catholic, Mesa and Basha on deck, but first they travel to Valley Vista on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
Brophy College Prep also kept climbing after its 31-28 win over then-No. 10 Mountain View.
Quarterback Noah Stewart threw three touchdown passes in that game, and the Broncos have now scored at least 30 points in each of their last three contests after opening the season with a 25-6 loss to Hamilton. Brophy hosts No.
4 Chandler on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
Horizon remained unbeaten at 4-0 with a 55-36 win over Sunnyslope, and its offense has been on a tear from the start. Running back Dylan Brush has scored at least four touchdowns in three games this season, including six against Sunnyslope, and Horizon has topped 50 points in three of its first four wins.
Last week, the Huskies beat then-No. 11 Williams Field 31-28, and they followed that by defeating then-No.
17 Salpointe Catholic 36-7.

Mammoth Showed Coyotes Fans A Very Different Team Against The Kings
The first preseason look at Utah under Andr Tourigny felt a lot different from the version that has spent the summer trying to find its identity, and that mattered for Coyotes fans keeping an eye on how the franchises new chapter is taking shape. Against the Kings, the Mammoth played with a pace that showed up right away and with enough edge to suggest Tourigny is already leaning into the kind of game he wants from his group.
There was also plenty of balance to the attack, with Anders Lee scoring twice and Daniil But opening the scoring to set the tone. Los Angeles had its chances to answer, but Utah kept forcing the issue and making the game feel uncomfortable for the Kings, which is exactly the sort of early preseason sign that can get a fan base talking even before the games start to count.
