Jeremiyah Loves Return Leaves One Big Cardinals Question

Jeremiyah Love's return from injury could turn the tide for the Cardinals as they face the defensively challenged Cowboys in a pivotal Week 8 matchup.

Jeremiyah Love is set to be back in the Arizona Cardinals’ lineup Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys after missing the last two games with an ankle injury.

The rookie running back is off the injury report, and Arizona expects him to play in Week 8. That’s a welcome development for a Cardinals team that has already banked two wins this season and has looked feistier than many expected before the year began.

Love said the ankle issue first showed up in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. He tried to push through it for several weeks before finally sitting out the last two games to let it calm down.

Jeremiyah Love said this left ankle injury that kept him out these last two games first cropped up Week 2 against Seahawks. Didn't bother him too much at first; good to get healed up sitting 2 games."Two weeks for anybody will get people feeling how they want to feel."

Before getting hurt, Love was a major part of Arizona’s offense. He has played 49.6 percent of the team’s offensive snaps this season, rushing 67 times for 245 yards and one touchdown. The yardage has been modest at 3.7 per carry, but he’s also been involved as a receiver, catching 11 of 14 targets and adding another score.

The matchup gives him a chance to get rolling again. Dallas has one of the league’s weakest defenses, and the Cowboys have struggled against the run, ranking 23rd in EPA/Rush while allowing 4.7 yards per carry in the 2026 season.

Even with Love back, Arizona figures to keep using multiple backs. He should still share work with Bam Knight and Tyler Allgeier, just as he did early in the season.

But the rookie’s usage before the injury points to a significant role right away, especially after handling double-digit carries in all but one game this season. In Week 2, the blowout loss to Seattle was the exception, and even then he logged nine carries.

Love was a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and his return should give the Cardinals a real lift as they try to make the most of a favorable Week 8 matchup.

Cardinals Have Another Chance To Ruin Dallas Expectations

The early part of this NFL season has been kind to big underdogs, and Arizona has been one of the teams helping fuel that trend. Through seven weeks, teams catching at least 6.5 points were 19-9-3 with 10 outright wins, a run that has kept bettors and observers alike interested in the weekly mismatch games, especially after recent surprises like the Giants' outright win over Houston.

Week 8 brings another chance for the Cardinals to play spoiler against Dallas, a matchup that has long carried more intrigue than the spread suggests. Arizona has already delivered in this role more than once this season, and the question now is whether it can keep doing it against a Cowboys team that expects to be in control, even if the numbers and recent underdog history say otherwise. Trey McBrides Season Just Took Another Costly Turn

Trey McBrides season has already come with an unwelcome side bill, and it keeps growing. The Cardinals tight end has been fined multiple times this year, including a $17,911 penalty for a leg-whip block in Week 4, a reminder that even one of Arizonas most important offensive pieces can find himself on the leagues radar for the wrong reasons.

Mike LaFleur has made clear how much McBride means to the offense, praising his skill set and the value he brings to the unit. But the discipline issues are starting to add up around a player the Cardinals need on the field and in rhythm, and the financial hit is becoming hard to ignore as the season moves forward. Cardinals Face One Big Roster Question Ahead Of Cowboys Showdown

The Cardinals made a pair of practice-squad elevations ahead of their Week 8 trip to face the Cowboys, bringing up defensive lineman Jared Harrison-Hunte and tight end Kenny Yeboah as they continue sorting through the final pieces of the game-day roster. Arizona has also had to rule out defensive lineman Walter Nolen III and offensive lineman Jon Gaines, a reminder that the injury list is still shaping how the team lines up for one of its bigger NFC tests.

There is still some uncertainty hanging over the rest of the roster, with Hjalte Froholdt, Max Melton and Andrew Wingard among the players listed as questionable. The Cardinals have had recent success against Dallas, which only adds a little more edge to a matchup already drawing attention on both sides, especially with Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb weighing in on the challenge ahead.
