Jeremiyah Love's Hot Start Comes With One Big Cardinals Question

Despite an early lead in rookie stats, Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love continues to seek those elusive explosive plays crucial for his development.

Dane Brugler’s early NFL All-Rookie Team has Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love in the spotlight after just four games of the season.

The Athletic’s list is built on a tiny sample, but Brugler still slotted Love in as his starting rookie running back. Through four appearances and three starts, Love has 55 carries for 223 yards, nine first-down conversions, one touchdown and a 4.1 yards-per-carry average, while avoiding any fumbles. He has also added 11 catches for 36 yards, two more first-down conversions and another score.

Brugler wrote:

“Love hasn’t taken the league by storm as Bijan Robinson did in his first four games as a pro, but he has been a productive part of Arizona’s committee backfield. Love leads all rookies in rushing yards (223) and running back receptions (11).

However, the Cardinals made him the third pick for his ability to create explosives. And of his first 55 NFL carries, only two have gone for more than 10 yards and none for more than 20.

That should change soon.”

For now, that makes Love the top rookie back in Brugler’s eyes, even if the explosive plays the Cardinals drafted him for haven’t shown up yet.

Brugler’s next group of rookie running backs includes Mike Washington Jr. of the Raiders, Emmett Johnson of the Chiefs, Jadarian Price of the Seahawks, Kaelon Black of the 49ers and Jonah Coleman of the Broncos.

The full list is available through The Athletic, and none of the other Cardinals’ 2026 draft picks were included.

Love’s story is still just getting started. He could end up becoming one of the great backs in Cardinals history, or even in the NFL. Right now, though, he’s still adjusting to the speed of the league, with 13 games left on the schedule and plenty of career ahead of him.

Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade Talk Is Putting Cardinals Fans On Edge

Rumors around Marvin Harrison Jr. have quickly become the kind that can rattle a fan base, especially when a player with his profile is involved. For Cardinals supporters, the noise is coming from outside the building, with Indianapolis reportedly showing interest and a wider list of suitors also said to be monitoring the situation, including the Chiefs, Raiders, Bills, Giants and Texans.

The Colts interest carries extra intrigue because their ability to put together a deal is constrained by limited draft capital after past trades, which makes any real movement harder to engineer. Even so, the fact that Harrisons name is circulating at all is enough to keep Arizona followers on edge, and it leaves one of the leagues most closely watched wideout stories hanging in a tense spot. Cardinals Catch Lions Defense At A Tense Time

A rough afternoon in Carolina only added to the scrutiny around the Lions, and head coach Dan Campbell wasted little time addressing where things stand on defense. He confirmed that Kelvin Sheppard will stay on as defensive coordinator, while also making clear the unit is still a work in progress and that the staff is looking for ways to give other players a chance to help improve the performance.

For the Cardinals, that makes this a familiar kind of opponent-facing wrinkle to monitor, especially when a contender is trying to steady itself without overreacting to one bad result. Campbells message was less about a quick fix than a broader standard, with mediocrity off the table and improvement needed across every phase, which leaves Detroit carrying both the urgency and the uncertainty into the next stretch. Jeremiyah Love Carries A Big Week 5 Concern For Cardinals Fans

Jeremiyah Love remains on track to suit up for the Cardinals in Week 5 against the Lions after leaving Week 4 with an ankle injury, and that alone will ease plenty of nerves around Arizona. Coach Mike LaFleur called the issue manageable and said Love has been dealing with it through maintenance, a reassuring update for a backfield that has leaned on him since the start of the regular season.

Still, this is the kind of situation the Cardinals will have to watch closely through the week. Love has not missed a regular-season game yet, and Arizona plans to track his progress in practice and on the injury report before settling in for Detroit, where every bit of his availability matters for a team trying to keep its offense steady.
