Dalton Kincaids Quiet Stretch Is Becoming A Real Bills Concern

Breakout performances and depth chart shifts highlight this week's receiver trends, with emerging stars making a case for a spot in your lineup while some familiar names face uncertain futures.

Week 6 is already forcing fantasy managers to make some uncomfortable calls, and the target trends from Week 5 make a few pass-catchers look a lot different than they did a week ago. Some players are climbing because the ball is finding them more often. Others are hanging on by a thread as volume dries up.

Dalton Kincaid is the one raising the most concern in Buffalo. After a strong start to the season, he stumbled again in the Bills’ 37-34 overtime win over the Rams, catching just one of his two targets.

That made it two straight quiet games, and over his last two outings he has just two catches for 14 yards. The two-point conversion helped salvage the fantasy line on Monday night, but the lack of downfield opportunity is hard to ignore.

The Verdict: Low-End TE1 (Hold tight, but the floor is getting shaky)

On the other end of the spectrum, Germie Bernard made a real statement in Week 5 against Indianapolis. He saw 9 targets and turned them into 6 catches for 80 yards, stepping into a much bigger role in the short-to-intermediate game as injuries thinned out the options around him.

The obvious question now is whether that usage lasts once the depth chart, especially Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson, starts getting healthier. For the moment, Bernard looks like a waiver add with immediate flex value.

The Verdict: Real Deal (Enjoy the volume while the injuries last)

Keenan Allen is still doing Keenan Allen things - finding space, presenting a reliable option, and giving his offense a steady outlet. But fantasy managers have every reason to keep one eye on the future.

The big questions are whether he can stay dependable week to week and what happens to his target share when Alec Pierce comes back. Right now, Allen’s veteran savvy and route work make him a useful PPR piece, but his ceiling is tied closely to the game script and who’s available around him.

He’s best viewed as a solid WR3 until Pierce returns and the volume picture changes.

The Verdict: Trust with Caution (PPR Flex with looming volume risk)

Kendrick Bourne is another name that suddenly matters after the Marvin Harrison Jr. trade opened up targets in Arizona. Bourne has shown he can earn looks when he’s on the field enough, but the real issue is whether this is the start of something useful or just a one-week spike. His deeper upside depends on how the Cardinals spread those targets around from here, which makes him a speculative waiver target worth monitoring.

The Verdict: Monitor Closely (Needs another strong week to prove it)

Keon Coleman also ended Week 5 with a line that looks better on the surface than it felt in real time. He caught his lone target for a seven-yard touchdown against the Rams, but the underlying volume was tough to miss: just two targets.

That stood out even more with DJ Moore out because of a shoulder injury. Josh Allen attempted only 19 passes in the overtime game, which obviously capped the passing game overall.

Still, only two targets for a player operating as the de facto top perimeter option is a warning sign if the efficiency ever slips.

Cardinals Defense Reaches Breaking Point Before Rams Showdown

The opening month has been rough enough for Arizona that the defense is now the loudest issue hanging over the team heading into a Rams matchup. At 1-4, the Cardinals are sitting near the bottom of the league in both points allowed and yards allowed, and the problems have gone beyond one bad half or a couple of busted assignments. Big plays have piled up, touchdowns have followed, and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis has already acknowledged the need to adjust.

Rallis has been open about the fact that something may need to change if this group is going to stabilize. For a defense that has spent much of the season chasing games instead of controlling them, the challenge now is finding a fix fast enough to matter before the schedule puts even more pressure on a unit that has already absorbed plenty of it. Trey McBride Is Sending Cardinals Fans A Risky Message

Trey McBride has already spent enough time around losing to understand how quickly patience can wear thin, but the Cardinals tight end is still framing his situation in a way that should resonate with fans who are tired of waiting for a breakthrough. Between difficult stretches in college and the NFL, McBride has seen what it looks like when good intentions do not immediately turn into wins, yet he continues to talk and act like a player invested in Arizonas long view rather than a short-term escape.

That matters for a roster and fan base that have heard plenty of talk about progress without enough results to match it. McBride is clearly aware of the frustration, but his commitment to being part of whatever comes next gives the Cardinals a little more credibility than empty optimism usually does. The tension now is whether his belief in the teams direction is enough to hold up if the losses keep coming. [Read more 🡒]

Cardinals Suddenly Have A Week 6 Concern They Can't Ignore

The Cardinals got their Week 6 injury picture into sharper focus Thursday, and the most notable development came with rookie running back Jeremiyah Love. Arizona and the Rams both released their practice reports ahead of Sundays meeting at SoFi Stadium, but Love was absent for a second straight day because of ankle issues, leaving his availability in real doubt as the week heads toward the final update.

For a Cardinals offense still trying to settle into a rhythm, any uncertainty around Love matters, especially with the game only days away. The Rams report had its own moving parts, with Trost and Curl newly added while Bachman showed more participation, but Arizonas attention is clearly on whether Love can turn the corner in time for kickoff and give the team one less problem to manage on the road.
