The Arizona Cardinals’ roster took another hit this week, with two players landing on injured reserve over a two-day stretch.
Cornerback Jaden Davis and defensive lineman PJ Mustipher were both moved to IR, the team announced. Davis was not expected to crack the Cardinals’ final 53-man roster, but Mustipher had been in the mix as a possible rotational option up front.
Arizona moved quickly to patch the openings, signing defensive lineman Brodric Martin and cornerback Quinton Newsome.
Martin arrives at 6-5 and 330 pounds with six career games under his belt, including one start. He has four tackles in the NFL after entering the league with Detroit as a third-round pick, 96th overall, in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky.
Martin played in five games for the Lions across his first two seasons, saw action in one game with Pittsburgh in 2025, and also spent time on the Raiders’ active roster and the Chiefs practice squad. He will wear No.
Newsome most recently played for the Houston Gamblers of the UFL, where he appeared in 10 games and put up 43 tackles, including 34 solo stops, along with two tackles for loss, a half sack, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He entered the NFL in 2024 with Denver as an undrafted rookie free agent from Nebraska and spent parts of the last two seasons on the Broncos’ practice squad.
In college, Newsome played in 53 games with 35 starts and finished with 149 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, 18 passes defensed, an interception and two forced fumbles and fumble recoveries. He will wear No.
Arizona has otherwise been fairly healthy, but the tempo picked up this week and so did the bumps and bruises. Walter Nolen III was the most notable name to come away injured during practice yesterday.
The Cardinals are off today and are set to return to practice on Sunday, Aug. 2.

The Cardinals cornerback room took an early hit in camp, with Jaden Davis landing on injured reserve and leaving the team to adjust on the fly. Davis had to be removed from practice after leaving with a limp, and the move puts his season on hold unless an injury settlement is reached down the line.
