The first wave starts with the Carolina Panthers visiting the Atlanta Falcons at 10 a.m. on FOX. Carolina was gashed for 59 points in its Week 1 loss to the Bears, but the pick here is for Bryce Young and the Panthers to respond in Atlanta. The prediction: Panthers 27, Falcons 17.
At the same time on CBS, the New Orleans Saints head to Baltimore to face the Ravens. New Orleans showed fight in its near-comeback against the Lions, but the call is that Lamar Jackson and Baltimore handle business at home. Prediction: Ravens 30, Saints 20.
Another early matchup has the Minnesota Vikings at the Chicago Bears on FOX. These two teams combined for 98 points in their Week 1 wins, and the forecast is for Caleb Williams and Chicago to outscore Minnesota again. Prediction: Bears 35, Vikings 32.
The Cincinnati Bengals travel to Houston to meet the Texans on CBS, where the difference is expected to come on defense. Houston is projected to get the stops it needed but didn’t find in its Week 1 loss to the Bills. Prediction: Texans 24, Bengals 21.
In Foxborough, the Pittsburgh Steelers face the New England Patriots at 10 a.m. on CBS. New England has had extra time to prepare after its Week 1 performance on Sept. 9, and Drake Maye is expected to look sharper at home. Prediction: Patriots 27, Steelers 19.
The Green Bay Packers go to the New York Jets on FOX, and the expectation is that Green Bay avoids a repeat of what happened in Week 1. The Packers led the Vikings 22-10 before allowing 29 straight points, and that kind of collapse is not expected here. Prediction: Packers 23, Jets 20.
The Cleveland Browns are at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on CBS, with Baker Mayfield and Tampa Bay projected to answer back after Week 1. The Buccaneers are picked to handle an overmatched Browns team. Prediction: Buccaneers 31, Browns 17.
The Philadelphia Eagles visit the Tennessee Titans on FOX, and Tennessee’s Week 1 numbers are hard to ignore. Cam Ward and the Titans managed just 195 total yards in their loss to the Jets, and the outlook doesn’t improve much against Philadelphia. Prediction: Eagles 28, Titans 13.
Later in the afternoon, the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Denver Broncos at 1:05 p.m. on CBS. Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville drew attention with their Week 1 showing, but winning at Empower Field at Mile High is a different challenge. No score prediction was listed for this one.
The Las Vegas Raiders visit the Los Angeles Chargers at 1:05 p.m. on CBS, with the Chargers expected to avoid a second straight stumble as a heavy favorite to start the season. Justin Herbert and company are picked to rebound. Prediction: Chargers 23, Raiders 20.
At 1:25 p.m. on FOX, the Seattle Seahawks face the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona turned heads by upsetting the Chargers in Week 1, and with Sam Darnold out for Seattle, the Cardinals are viewed as capable of another home surprise.
The Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys meet in an NFC East game at 1:25 p.m. on FOX. The division implications are clear, and the expectation is that Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense will get rolling at home. Prediction: Cowboys 38, Commanders 28.
Also in the late window, the Miami Dolphins travel to the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco’s Week 1 win in Australia stood out, and the Dolphins are seen as a favorable opponent for Brock Purdy and company to settle back in at home. Prediction: 49ers 30, Dolphins 16.
Sunday night closes with the Indianapolis Colts at the Kansas City Chiefs at 5:20 p.m. on NBC. Kansas City will be on a short week after playing on Monday Night Football in Week 1, but that is not expected to change the outcome.
