Cardinals Stunned Dallas Again Behind A Rally Fans Will Debate

Gardner Minshew's unexpected performance propelled the Arizona Cardinals to an overtime victory against the Dallas Cowboys, extending their unbeaten streak at AT&T Stadium.

Gardner Minshew turned a game that looked out of reach into one the Cardinals somehow owned by the end.

Down 17-3, Arizona made the switch from Jacoby Brissett to Minshew with 1:35 left in the third quarter, and the move flipped everything. Minshew steered the Cardinals to touchdowns on each of his first four drives, capped by a 13-yard strike to Michael Wilson with 6 seconds left in regulation to force a 30-30 tie. Chad Ryland missed the extra point, but he made up for it in overtime, drilling a 42-yard field goal to finish off a 33-30 Cardinals win.

The comeback came with a cost. Arizona lost left tackle Jayden Williams (knee), running back Jeremiyah Love (ankle), running back Bam Knight (concussion) and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (ankle). Wide receiver Reggie Virgil was hurt when he ran into the goal post with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter.

Still, the Cardinals found enough offense to bury the Cowboys, outgaining them 467 to 261 and continuing a strange run of success in Dallas. Arizona is now 5-0 at AT&T Stadium all-time and has won nine of the last 10 meetings in the series.

Minshew finished 17-of-23 for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Tyler Allgeier carried the load after Love and Knight went down, piling up 147 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries while also adding five catches for 44 yards and another score. Wilson had eight receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown, and Trey McBride chipped in seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys had their own chances to close it out. They led 17-3 and later had an opportunity to put the game away with 2:07 left in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t bleed out the clock and didn’t get into the end zone. Brandon Aubrey’s 41-yard field goal with 1:09 remaining gave Dallas a 30-27 lead, but it still left enough time for Minshew to answer.

Dak Prescott went 19-of-29 for 195 yards and a touchdown. CeeDee Lamb caught seven passes for 58 yards, and Javonte Williams ran for 56 yards on 24 carries.

Both teams are now 3-5, and the Cowboys still haven’t won back-to-back games since last November. For Dallas, it was another one that slipped away. For Arizona, it was a wild rally that ended with Minshew in position to take a strong shot at NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Cardinals Beat Cowboys But Suddenly Face A Brutal Injury Problem

The Cardinals got the kind of win that can steady a season, edging the Cowboys in overtime, but the mood in the aftermath was tempered by a long injury list that kept growing as the game wore on. Arizona was already navigating a physical night, and by the time it was over the team was dealing with issues across multiple position groups, from the backfield to the offensive line to the receiving corps.

Mike LaFleur said some of the injuries could cost players multiple weeks, and some could linger even longer, which is the bigger concern for a team trying to build on a hard-fought road win. Jeremiyah Love, Kendrick Bourne, Bam Knight, Jayden Williams, Reggie Virgil and Michael Wilson all came out of the game hurt in different ways, leaving the Cardinals with a victory on the scoreboard and a much murkier outlook heading into the next stretch. Cardinals Win Had Cowboys Calling Out Their Own Defense

The Cowboys overtime loss to the Cardinals left more than a bad result on the scoreboard. Dallas had controlled much of the game before Arizona rallied to pull out a 33-30 win, and the postgame focus quickly shifted to the defense after linebacker DeMarvion Overshown called out the units second-half performance and said the group has to be better.

Jerry Jones tried to steady the conversation by saying he is not looking at coaching changes right now, but the pressure around the defensive staff is only going to grow if the Cowboys keep fading late. For a team that expected its defense to set the tone, the way this one slipped away made the questions harder to avoid, even if the answers are still to come. [Read more 🡒]

Budda Baker Trade Buzz Puts Cardinals Fans On Edge

Trade chatter around Budda Baker has put a familiar Cardinals storyline back in the spotlight as the November 10 deadline approaches. The longtime safety and captain remains one of the most recognizable faces on the roster, and the idea of Arizona even entertaining offers for him has naturally grabbed attention because of what he means to the defense and to the franchises identity.

The speculation comes at a time when the Cardinals are widely expected to be active sellers, with other players potentially on the move as the deadline nears. Baker has already acknowledged the business side of the NFL, which is why the rumor mill has felt especially uneasy for fans, even if there is still a strong sense around the league that this is a situation worth watching rather than assuming it will end with a deal.
