The Arizona Cardinals are making moves this offseason, signing wide receiver Devin Duvernay to a one-year deal that could be worth up to $2.5 million. Duvernay, now 28, has had quite the journey since his standout days at Texas, where he earned first-team All-Big 12 honors back in 2019.
Originally drafted by the Ravens with the 92nd pick in 2020, Duvernay wrapped up his rookie contract after four years, which included a signing bonus of $887,863. After his stint with Baltimore, where he built a solid foundation, Duvernay entered free agency for the first time in 2024. He inked a two-year, $8.5 million deal with the Jaguars, but after a season, the team released him, leading to a quick signing with the Bears.
In the 2025 season with Chicago, Duvernay played all 17 games. While his receiving stats were modest-two catches on five targets for 26 yards-his impact on special teams was significant. He returned 21 punts for 231 yards, averaging 11 yards per return, and handled 40 kickoff returns for an impressive 1,069 yards, averaging 26.7 yards per return.
This signing by the Cardinals could bolster their special teams unit, and if Duvernay can tap into his playmaking abilities, he might just find a niche in Arizona’s offensive scheme as well. Keep an eye on how this versatile player fits into the Cardinals’ plans for the upcoming season.
