Cardinals Sign Former Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier to Exciting New Deal

Cardinals bolster backfield by signing Tyler Allgeier with ambitions for a starting role, seeking to capitalize on his impressive rushing record and reliability.

Running back Tyler Allgeier is set to bring his talents to the Arizona Cardinals, signing a two-year deal worth $12.25 million, which could rise to $16.25 million with incentives. This move marks a significant step for Allgeier, who was ranked 69th on the list of top 150 free agents of 2026, coming in as the fifth-ranked running back.

Drafted in the fifth round by the Falcons in 2022 out of BYU, Allgeier made an immediate impact by setting the Falcons’ rookie rushing record with 1,035 yards. However, his role shifted when Atlanta picked Bijan Robinson in the 2023 draft. Serving as Robinson’s backup, Allgeier still managed to rack up 1,841 yards on 466 carries over the past three seasons.

In his four years in the league, Allgeier has proven his worth. He ranks sixth in the NFL in rushing success rate at 42 percent and holds the 11th spot in EPA per rush among running backs. Notably, he’s one of only three running backs with over 500 carries in the last four seasons who hasn’t fumbled-joining Kenneth Walker III, now with the Chiefs, and Houston’s Joe Mixon.

Allgeier and Robinson developed a strong bond in Atlanta, and their parting is bittersweet. Robinson expressed heartfelt support, saying, “That’s my brother right there. I pray whatever happens is the best for him.”

Allgeier, eyeing a starting role, is ready for this new chapter. His journey with the Cardinals promises to be an exciting one, and fans will be eager to see how he steps up in Arizona.
