The Ravens are moving to shore up their quarterback room, with Adam Schefter reporting Wednesday that Baltimore is finalizing a trade for Jacoby Brissett from the Cardinals.
The deal is expected to be completed this weekend, which would keep Brissett out of the lineup for Baltimore’s Week 9 Thursday Night matchup against the Jaguars.
Arizona had already pushed Brissett down to third on the depth chart behind Gardner Minshew and Carson Beck, making him available on the trade market. Baltimore’s need is obvious: Lamar Jackson is on injured reserve with a thumb injury, and Tyler Huntley is out for the season after suffering turf toe.
Brissett, 33, entered the league as a third-round pick by the Patriots in 2016. New England later dealt him to the Colts after the 2017 preseason in exchange for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.
His career has taken him through a long list of stops since then. Brissett was in the final year of his four-year, $3.411 million contract when he agreed to a two-year, $30 million deal with the Colts in 2019, a contract that included $20 million guaranteed at signing. After a season with the Dolphins, he signed with the Browns in 2022, then joined the Commanders as a free agent in 2023 before returning to the Patriots on a one-year deal in 2024.
Arizona signed Brissett to a two-year contract last March, and he was in the second year of that deal when the team reworked his situation. The Cardinals then re-signed him to a one-year contract worth $15.5 million, with a chance to earn $21 million in incentives, while he was scheduled to make $4.88 million in base salary.
In 2026, Brissett has played in eight games for Arizona, completing 63.3 percent of his passes for 1,719 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Cardinals QB Workout Suddenly Puts The Focus On A Bigger Move
The Cardinals spent part of the week taking a closer look at depth options, bringing in seven players for tryouts that included one quarterback, three running backs and three receivers. The group featured a mix of NFL experience, with names such as Ulysses Bentley, Jermar Jefferson, Elijah Tau-Tolliver, Joseph Manjack and Jamari Thrash among those getting a look as Arizona keeps working through roster churn.
The timing matters because the club is already dealing with injuries at receiver, and the quarterback workout adds another layer to what has been a busy stretch. Arizona has been active in scanning the market for help, and a routine tryout day suddenly feels more like part of a larger roster picture, one that could still shift before the dust settles. Bills Suddenly Have A Shot At A Defensive Star Arizona Hates To Lose
The trade deadline chatter around Arizona has started to turn from background noise into something more substantive, and Budda Baker is right in the middle of it. ESPNs Jeremy Fowler reported that the Cardinals safety is viewed around the league as a potential trade candidate, with teams such as the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars mentioned as possible suitors as clubs sort through their needs and Arizona weighs its own roster direction.
Baker is not the only name being floated, either, as the Cardinals contract situations and transition under center have put other veterans on the radar in recent days. Josh Sweat and Jacoby Brissett have also come up in the broader discussion, which is the kind of deadline buzz that can linger for a few days before it either hardens into action or fades away without a move. Cardinals QB Shakeup Could Open The Door For Arizonas Next Move
The quarterback room in Arizona is changing again, with Jacoby Brissett on his way out after being benched and demoted. The Cardinals are finalizing a deal to send him to Baltimore, where the Ravens have been scrambling for depth because of injuries, and Arizona is set to pick up a late-round draft choice in return.
For the Cardinals, the move clears another layer from a position group that has already shifted this season and adds a little more draft capital for the next round of roster building. It also leaves the team with one less veteran option on hand, a reminder that the quarterback picture in Arizona has been fluid enough that even a modest trade can carry some roster ripple effects.
