The Cardinals locked down the player who has been the steady center of their offensive line, signing Hjalte Froholdt to a two-year extension that keeps him under contract through the 2028 season.
The team announced the deal today, with the signing taking place at the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Center in Tempe, AZ.
Froholdt, whose name is pronounced YELL-duh / FRO-holt, is now in his fourth season with Arizona and has landed his second extension with the club. He first signed a two-year extension in August of 2024 after arriving in 2023 as an unrestricted free agent.
At 6-5 and 310 pounds, the 30-year-old has been exactly what Arizona needed up front. He started all 51 regular season games at center over his first three seasons with the Cardinals from 2023-25 and served as a team captain in 2025. He’s also the only player on the roster to start every game in each of the last three seasons.
That durability puts him in rare company league-wide. Froholdt is one of just four NFL players - along with Ted Karras of Cincinnati, Creed Humphrey of Kansas City and Coleman Shelton of the LA Rams - to start all 51 regular season games at center from 2023-25.
Before his run in Arizona, Froholdt spent time with New England from 2019-20 and Cleveland from 2021-22. The Patriots drafted him in the fourth round, 118th overall, in 2019 out of Arkansas.
Across his NFL career, Froholdt has started 57 of 82 games played. He was born in Svendborg, Denmark, and started playing football in the United States during his sophomore year of high school while he was a foreign exchange student in Warren, OH.
