The Cardinals’ Week 7 injury picture already looks like one of the bigger storylines heading into Sunday, and the first official report on Thursday only sharpened that focus.
Arizona and Denver both released their opening injury lists for the matchup at State Farm Stadium, and the Cardinals’ side is the busier one. The Broncos’ report is lighter, but it still carries names that could matter a lot by kickoff.
The headline for Arizona is Love, who is suddenly in danger of sitting out a second straight game after being ruled out last week.
“Yes, he’s feeling better, but it kind of goes without saying. (We're) not going to put him out there until he feels 100%," LaFleur said on Love's ankle injury.
The Cardinals are also dealing with an illness that’s moving through the team, something that could continue to be worth tracking as the week goes on.
“I guess I could cancel everything. I don’t know (Laughs)," LaFleur said.
"No, I’m not a doctor. Drink some electrolytes and get some sleep.
I don’t know. but it’s a good question. I don’t know.”
Denver’s report, meanwhile, includes Surtain and Hufanga, two absences that would be significant if they can’t get on the field at State Farm Stadium.
LaFleur also had plenty to say about the Broncos’ defense, which is led by former Arizona defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
“Last few years. They’re very smart.
They’re very well coached. I have as much respect for ‘VJ’ (Broncos Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph) as anyone in this league.
They do it their own way. I don’t want to say they’re not with the times - whatever that means but it’s got an old-school approach to it in terms of some of their coverage and that’s a credit to them.
"You can tell ‘VJ’ and those guys believe in what they believe in and they’re unapologetic with it. They play really hard.
I see 11 guys working in unison. It’s a challenge.
Yes, it’s the last two weeks, but it’s really been all year, and it’s been for a few years now. We have our hands full with this group, for sure.”
The Cardinals and Broncos still have two practices left before they start handing out official game designations like questionable, out or doubtful for the Week 7 game in Glendale.

Cardinals Momentum Suddenly Comes With One Big Jeremiyah Love Concern
The Cardinals momentum after a Week 6 win over the Rams comes with a familiar sort of wobble in the backfield. Jeremiyah Love was unavailable for that victory because of an ankle injury, and the team had to lean on Zonovan Knight and Tyler Allegier to carry the load at running back. For a club trying to build on a good result, the absence of one of its key playmakers is hard to ignore.
Love also missed Wednesdays practice to open the week, which only adds to the uncertainty heading into Sundays matchup with the Broncos. The injury came the week before, and Arizona now has to monitor his work over the next couple of days as it tries to get a better read on whether he can give it a go in Week 7. [Read more 🡒]
Cardinals Depth Chart Shows Where Roster Changes Could Matter Vs Broncos
The Cardinals Week 7 depth chart is in, and it arrives with a few roster tweaks that could ripple through Sundays matchup with the Broncos. Arizona made a handful of moves this week, claiming tackle Albert Reese off waivers, moving on from tight end Shawn Bowman and activating safety Kitan Crawford from injured reserve, all while laying out where players sit on offense, defense and special teams for the upcoming game.
The changes matter because they hint at where the Cardinals are trying to shore up depth without yet spelling out every detail. Reese is now part of a tackle group that includes five players, but his exact place in the pecking order is still unclear, leaving one of the more interesting questions on the roster heading into game day. Cardinals Have One Early Trend That Could Shape The NFC Race
Week 7 arrives with the NFC still sorting itself out, and Arizona has already put one early pattern on the board that matters well beyond its own locker room. The Cardinals have mixed strong road form with a rugged defense in the bigger picture around the conference, while the rest of the playoff field keeps bumping into one another in a slate that also includes the Bears hosting the Patriots and the Saints meeting the Steelers in Paris.
For Arizona, the issue is whether the good version can show up often enough to stay in the race. The numbers behind the Cardinals start suggest a team that can look dangerous when it gets things right, but recent results have also exposed a margin for error that is hard to ignore. With the NFC packed tightly and rivals like Seattle and Los Angeles still shaping the conversation, the Cardinals next stretch could tell us whether this is a real trend or just a short-lived September and October burst.
