The Seattle Seahawks head into Week 2 still sorting through injuries, and the secondary remains one of the biggest questions hanging over Sunday’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
Seattle has not yet given an official final word on Nick Emmanwori, but the signs point one way. The team is elevating safety Rodney Thomas II from the practice squad to the game-day roster, just as it did in Week 1.
Gregg Bell noted that this is an indication Emmanwori will not play against Arizona. Bell also reported that Ty Okada is officially out, which leaves Thomas in position for another significant workload alongside Julian Love.
That leaves the Seahawks thin again at safety after a Week 1 opener that already featured plenty of damage. Emmanwori was still coming back from ankle surgery and sat out the 13-10 win over the New England Patriots, while Okada missed that game with a hamstring injury. Seattle also lost Sam Darnold on the opening drive when he suffered a glute injury.
Darnold will miss the first road game of the season as well, so Drew Lock is set to start against Arizona.
The injury list does not stop there. On Saturday, Seattle downgraded starting right guard Anthony Bradford to OUT. Bradford, who started all 17 games in 2025 and all three playoff games, will miss Sunday’s contest because of knee and hip injuries.
Christian Haynes is the next man up. The 2024 third-round pick from Connecticut has appeared in 25 career games, but this will be his first start.
Seattle drafted him with the expectation that he could grow into a meaningful role, yet he has not been able to crack the lineup. With Bradford unavailable, Haynes now gets a real chance to show he can handle it.

Cardinals Offense Is Raising A Frustrating Question Fans Already Feel
Two games into the season, the offense has left the kind of uneasy feeling that usually only comes when a rosters talent level and its production are miles apart. The yardage has been light, the numbers around Jeremiyah Love, Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride have been underwhelming, and the broader concern is less about one bad day than about a unit that has not looked nearly as dangerous as it should.
For Cardinals fans, the frustration comes from how familiar this can feel when the attack stalls early and the team starts sounding like it is revisiting some of the franchises lowest offensive stretches. The bigger question is no longer whether the talent is there. It is whether this group is being used in a way that actually lets that talent show up on Sundays. [Read more 🡒]
Cardinals Already Face An Uncomfortable Truth About Their Young Offense
The Cardinals are only two games into the season, but the early shape of their offense already looks like something worth watching closely. After a loss to the Seahawks left Arizona at 1-1, the groups young skill players have not yet settled into the kind of rhythm that usually helps a team find its footing. Rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has seen limited targets and receptions, while the backfield has been split between Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson rather than leaning on one runner to carry the load.
Mike LaFleur has already pointed to offensive execution as a key area that needs to improve, and that matters because the Cardinals do not appear interested in forcing a bellcow approach at running back. For a team trying to build consistency around younger pieces, that creates a familiar early-season tension: there is enough talent to believe the offense can grow, but not enough evidence yet that the parts are connecting in the way Arizona needs. Seahawks Leave Arizona With An Injury Scare That Changed Fast
The Seahawks left Arizona with a couple of late-week health questions hanging over their offense, but one of the more worrying ones appears to have settled down quickly. Mike Macdonald said Jadarian Prices injury is to the shoulder, not the chest, and it does not seem serious, easing some of the concern after the scare in Arizona.
There is still a bigger quarterback angle to watch as the week moves on. Seattle said Sam Darnold has a chance to play after dealing with a soft-tissue glute injury, which would give the team another option after Drew Lock started the previous game and threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
