Jerry Jones is keeping the Cowboys’ trade posture pretty clear heading into the Nov. 10 deadline: if Dallas makes a splash, it won’t be for something ordinary.
On Friday, during an appearance on Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan, Jones said the Cowboys would need “a dynamic situation” before surrendering draft picks for a proven player. That lines up with what he said Tuesday, when he called a blockbuster move “unlikely” before the deadline.
The comments came after a recent report suggested the Las Vegas Raiders could at least listen on Maxx Crosby if a team were willing to send two first-round picks for the pass-rusher. Dallas was named as one of the possible destinations for Crosby, a 29-year-old who has been connected to the Cowboys since early 2026.
Jones, though, left himself room to pivot if the right opportunity comes along after Sunday’s game against Arizona. As Jon Machota of The Athletic shared, he said the Cowboys would need “it would have to be a dynamic situation to give up (draft) picks” for a proven player before the trade deadline.
He also made it clear that Dallas could be active on the other side of the phone line, too. Jones said he would “absolutely” take calls on players after the Cardinals game.
“There’s no such thing as not entertaining (trade offers),” Jones explained.”...Just because you would go there doesn't mean you'd do it, but it's worth considering or thinking about.”
That means even players already in the Cowboys’ orbit could wind up in the rumor mill. Wide receiver George Pickens, whose rights were retained for 2026 via the franchise tag, was already the subject of trade chatter before Week 7. Jones did not say what he would want in return for Pickens.
The timing matters, because Dallas is coming off a stretch where the front office might be tempted to react. The 3-4 Cowboys enter Sunday as seven-point favorites over the 2-5 Cardinals, according to DraftKings Sportsbook, and they sit behind only the 4-2-1 New York Giants in the NFC East while New York is on its Week 8 bye.
There’s also a simple football reason Jones wants this one badly. Dallas has dropped four straight games to Arizona and eight of the last nine in the series, and Jones made it clear he wants that pattern to stop at AT&T Stadium.
“It’s real, and we need to change that … that was such a disappointment last year when we got beat. We really have to be at our best,” Jones said.

Cardinals Suddenly Need Their Biggest Weakness To Show Up Vs Cowboys
Arizonas rushing game has been one of the quieter problems in a season full of them, with the Cardinals sitting near the bottom of the league in rushing yards and yards per carry. Now comes a Week 8 matchup with Dallas, a defense that has given up plenty on the ground in multiple games, which at least creates a rare opening for a ground attack that has struggled to find any rhythm.
The catch is that Arizona may have to take advantage with a line that is already stretched thin. Chase Bisontis and Paris Johnson are out for the season, and rookie Jayden Williams has been pushed into the left tackle spot, leaving the Cardinals close to a patchwork front even before the latest injury concern to center Hjalte Froholdt. If the run game is going to matter Sunday, it may need to hold up in a hurry. [Read more 🡒]
Cardinals Still Own One Rivalry That Cowboys Fans Hate
The Cardinals and Cowboys have spent decades crossing paths, and the recent run has given Arizona a little extra bragging room in a rivalry that has usually tilted Dallas way. Since 1960, the two teams have met 92 times in the regular season and once in the playoffs, with the Cowboys still holding the edge in the all-time series. But the more relevant backdrop for Cardinals fans is the recent stretch, where Arizona has taken eight of the last nine and arrived with the kind of edge that has made this matchup feel different lately.
Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb recently pointed to the Cardinals consistent energy in these games, a nod to how often Arizona has shown up ready for Dallas. For a rivalry that still carries plenty of history, the current trend is what stands out, especially with the Cardinals having built a habit of making life uncomfortable for one of the leagues most recognizable teams. The larger question now is whether that pattern is just a hot streak or something Dallas still has not figured out. [Read more 🡒]
Cardinals Line Depth Gets Tested Again Before Tough Cowboys Matchup
The Cardinals are heading into a tricky Week 8 matchup with Dallas already thin along both lines, after defensive lineman Walter Nolen III and offensive lineman Jon Gaines II were ruled out because of ankle injuries. Both players missed practice all week and will sit for a second straight game, leaving Arizona to patch together its front again against a Cowboys team that can test depth in a hurry.
There is at least one encouraging sign on the offensive side, with right tackle Elijah Wilkinson expected to play. Still, the line picture remains unsettled after Hjalte Froholdt was absent from Fridays practice, adding another layer of uncertainty to a unit that has already been forced to absorb multiple injuries at a difficult point in the schedule.
