Cardinals Fans Still Arent Getting The Carson Beck Change They Wanted

Despite Carson Beck's promising development, the Arizona Cardinals are sticking with Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback for the upcoming clash with the Rams, leaving many fans eager for changes disappointed.

ARIZONA - The Arizona Cardinals are sticking with the same quarterback setup for now, and that means rookie third-round pick Carson Beck still isn’t getting a promotion.

Head coach Mike LaFleur said Wednesday there’s no change coming this week, shutting down any speculation that Beck’s role would be altered. LaFleur had already been asked on Monday about the possibility, with those conversations taking place on Tuesday.

"Nothing new for this week, no," he told reporters on Wednesday.

So for the time being, Arizona will keep Jacoby Brissett as the starter with Gardner Minshew behind him. That leaves Beck in line to remain inactive on game day as the emergency quarterback when the Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Rams on the road this week.

The Cardinals enter the matchup at 1-4, while the Rams are 2-3.

LaFleur also pointed to the work Beck is putting in behind the scenes, noting that he has spent significant time with quarterbacks coach Matt Schaub in practice.

"You guys don't get to see it. No, he's doing a good job.

He's out there. Obviously, from a look squad standpoint, what you try to tell all these guys, let alone the quarterback is, 'Yes, you're getting the starting defense prepared, but you still got to play your game.

Like, don't be forcing stuff just because you're trying to give those guys production. Continue to work on your timing.

Continue to work on your accuracy and continue to work on your game.'" he said.

"And so you don't just throw them out there and look at a [play]card. It's like, okay, how can the card be somewhat of our offense, if not our offense?

And then on the same side of it is you know Shauby [Matt Schaub] is with him every single play. So when we get done, and I'm kind of roaming, being with the defense a little bit, [Nathaniel] Hackett's talking to Jacoby and then Shauby's with Carson and Gardner making sure that we're just obviously coaching."

Beck is still expected to take snaps for the Cardinals at some point in 2026, though recent reports have indicated that could come later in the season rather than sooner.

Even without a change in his role, LaFleur said the Miami product has made progress.

"Yeah, I have. I've seen a lot of these guys improve. I particularly think over the last few weeks he's continued to get better, and he's enjoying his process of of improving," said LaFleur.

"Sometimes the best learning you can do is watching what's going on on Sundays. The smart ones can can pick up on stuff, and he's certainly one of them. He's very smart."

Cardinals Tryout Move Could Signal Help At A Position Of Need

The Cardinals continued taking a broad look at their personnel options by bringing in eight players for tryouts, a routine move that can serve both as a database refresh and a chance to spot a fit at a position of need. Among the group was offensive guard Jamaree Salyer, which is the sort of name that naturally draws attention when a team is still sorting through ways to shore up the line.

Arizona also looked at quarterback Conner Bazelak, linebackers Bradyn Swinson and Riley Wilson, and four wide receivers, underscoring that this was more than a single-position check-in. Still, the presence of Salyer in the workout raises the more interesting question for the Cardinals: whether the tryout was just exploratory, or the first step toward adding a lineman who could factor into the roster picture sooner rather than later. Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade Just Reignited A Cardinals Value Debate

Marvin Harrison Jr.s move out of Arizona did more than change the Cardinals receiver room - it reopened a familiar front-office question about what the market really looks like for a talented player when production has been uneven. Around the league, multiple teams had come to believe Harrisons trade value had slipped because of inconsistent performance, which made his availability notable even before any deal was finalized.

The Kansas City Chiefs were among the clubs watching the wider receiver market, especially with injuries hitting Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice, but they never seriously moved on Harrison. Instead, Houston stepped in and made the deal with Arizona, sending second- and sixth-round picks to the Cardinals and getting Harrison plus a 2027 seventh-round pick back, a return that now sits at the center of the value debate. Marvin Harrison Jr. Has Cardinals Fans Watching One Painful Texans Storyline

Marvin Harrison Jr. is already back in the AFC South spotlight, and this time the conversation around him has shifted from Arizona to Houston. The former Cardinals wide receiver was dealt to the Texans in a move that sent future draft capital back to Arizona, giving Houston a proven playmaker and giving Cardinals fans another reminder of how quickly a roster can change around a young receiver.

DeMeco Ryans said Harrison will be on the field Sunday against the Jaguars, setting up an immediate reunion with former college quarterback C.J. Stroud. For Arizona, it is the kind of transaction that lingers beyond the transaction itself, because the value of moving a talent like Harrison is not measured only by what comes back right away, but by what those future picks can turn into later.
