The NFL moved quickly after two officials drew unwanted attention for the wrong reasons on Sunday, handing down suspensions to line judge Jeff Seeman and referee Adrian Hill for what the league called “unprofessional conduct toward a player.”
Seeman’s case came out of the Giants-Cardinals game at MetLife Stadium. Late in the fourth quarter, with about five minutes left, officials chose not to throw a flag on Giants defender Dru Phillips for contact on a third-and-2 pass aimed at Trey McBride.
McBride was furious, and the exchange that followed between the Cardinals tight end and Seeman turned into one of the most talked-about moments of the day. CBS cameras captured Seeman’s two-word message to McBride as he swore at the Arizona star.
McBride pointed at the camera and smiled.
According to The Associated Press, Seeman was suspended two games, while Hill received a one-game suspension. Ramon George, the league’s vice president of officiating, handed down both penalties.
NFL Players Association executive director JC Tretter pushed for accountability once the clip spread. “This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable,” he said, according to Arizona Sports.
The league opened its review Sunday night.
Hill’s punishment came from a different game and a separate incident in Week 4. During the Dolphins-Vikings matchup in Minneapolis, Wilson accidentally ran into Hill. Hill then turned down Wilson’s attempt to help him up and instead got in his face, until another official stepped in between them.
Hill has been in the NFL since 2010 and became a referee in 2019. He also went viral earlier this season during the opener because of another penalty call.
On the field, the Giants beat Arizona 36-24, with Deonte Banks sealing it on a pick-six as time expired. McBride caught seven passes on 12 targets for 31 yards. Arizona dropped to 1-3, while New York moved to 3-1.
In Minneapolis, the Vikings beat Miami 15-10 behind five field goals from Will Reichard. Minnesota improved to 4-0, and the Dolphins fell to 0-4.

Cardinals Fans Have A Real Reason To Be Furious Over Trey McBride
A sideline exchange during Arizonas game against the Giants has turned into something bigger than the usual postgame gripe, because cameras appeared to catch line judge Jeff Seeman directing profanity at Trey McBride after a third-down non-call. The moment quickly moved beyond one disputed snap, especially once the NFL Players Association weighed in and called the officials behavior unacceptable while pressing for the same standards for referees and players.
The league has confirmed it is reviewing the incident, and that alone gives Cardinals fans plenty to be irritated about. McBride has become one of the offenses most important targets, and when a game already features a missed call that leaves both sides steamed, the last thing Arizona needs is an official turning the exchange personal in plain view of everyone watching. Cardinals Suddenly Pulled Into A Marvin Harrison Jr Trade Rumor
The Cardinals suddenly find themselves tied to a surprising trade rumor involving Marvin Harrison Jr., with a report on The Pat McAfee Show saying the Colts have reached out about a possible deal for the second-year wideout. Indianapolis has been trying to stabilize a receiver group hit by injuries and uneven play, which helps explain why a player with Harrisons pedigree would come up in conversation, even if nothing has been confirmed by either side.
For Arizona, the timing makes this one worth watching because Harrison was still widely viewed as a foundational piece after going in the first round in 2024. He has flashed some promise despite a slow start to the season, and any suggestion that the Cardinals could even listen on him would be a major development for a team trying to build around young talent. For now, though, the chatter remains just that, with no official word from the teams involved. [Read more 🡒]
Cardinals Loss To Giants Just Turned Into An NFL Accountability Fight
The Cardinals loss to the Giants has spilled into a much bigger discussion about how the NFL handles accountability, after cameras appeared to catch line judge Jeff Seeman directing profanity at tight end Trey McBride. The exchange came after a third-down non-call and quickly became part of the postgame conversation, not because of the play itself, but because of the officials behavior in the moment. The league confirmed it is reviewing the incident.
Tensions around officiating are nothing new, but the reaction from the NFL Players Association gave the episode more weight, with the union publicly calling the conduct unacceptable and pushing for the same level of accountability for officials that players face. For Arizona, it adds another bitter layer to a loss that already carried plenty of frustration, and it keeps the focus on how the league handles discipline when the cameras are rolling.
