Cardinals Fans Can Exhale After Jeremiyah Love's Latest Scare

With no signs of injury, Cardinals' key running back Jeremiyah Love looks set to face a challenging Giants defense after concerns arose from an earlier practice incident.

The Arizona Cardinals got a reassuring update Thursday: Jeremiyah Love was not listed on the team’s injury report ahead of Week 4 against the New York Giants.

That matters, because Love had briefly sparked concern earlier in practice. According to reports, he was slow to get up after a rep during the open portion of the session, but he got back to work and finished with the group. He had only recently returned to full health after dealing with a high ankle sprain in preseason.

Love’s early-season workload has been a balancing act. Arizona split carries between him and Tyler Allgeier in the first two games, then finally saw Love break loose in Week 3. He finished that one with more than 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown.

“I think really it was kind of more the hot hand too. You could feel that, and hopefully it’s like that every week in terms of whoever we’re giving the ball to, you just know that you’re going to get positive plays," Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said on Love's workload.

"Like I said yesterday, it stunk that our longest rush was only eight yards, but they can’t force that. Those have got to organically happen and they will; they’ll pop. A lot to clean up in the run game still.”

The Cardinals would have felt a hit if Love had been sidelined. He’s a key piece for the offense, dangerous as both a runner and a receiver, and Arizona will need that versatility Sunday in New York.

LaFleur also had plenty to say about the Giants’ defense, even with Brian Burns out for the season because of an ACL injury.

“They're loaded and you knew that almost last year after the season when the cycle was going down and you're like, 'Man, there's a lot of talent over there in New York.' And there's a lot of talent on offense too. (It’s) unfortunate for them obviously (being without) Brian, but like we always say the show's going to go on and luckily for them, they have a lot of really good players," LaFleur said of the Giants' defense.

"(OLB) Abdul's (Carter) only getting better and better. He is a problem and he's playing hard and they've got it going right, right now.

I’ve got a lot of respect for what they're doing schematically. They're a sharp operation.”

Thursday’s report also brought back several familiar names. Josh Sweat, Isaac Seumalo and Budda Baker all returned from veteran rest days. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson remained out with a back injury.

Hjalte Froholdt (knee), Roy Lopez (groin) and Walter Nolen III (shoulder) were limited, while Mack Wilson Sr. (thumb) was upgraded to full participation.

More should come into focus Friday when LaFleur speaks with reporters.

Cardinals Just Sent A Clear Message On Marvin Harrison Jr

The early chatter around Marvin Harrison Jr. has not changed Arizonas thinking, at least for now. Despite a slow start to the 2026 season and some trade speculation beginning to swirl, the Cardinals reportedly are not interested in moving the young receiver and continue to view him as part of the roster they want to build around.

ESPNs Dan Graziano reported that Arizona has already made other offensive investments, which helps explain why Harrison is not being treated like a player on the block. The stance could evolve later, but the current plan is for Harrison to stay in Arizona, giving the Cardinals a chance to let the situation settle before anything more dramatic enters the conversation. Cardinals Suddenly Have A Bigger Pass Rush Concern Before Giants

The Cardinals head into their Week 4 matchup with the Giants already managing a thin margin on defense, with safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson ruled out because of a back injury and edge rusher Josh Sweat listed as questionable with a groin issue. New York, by contrast, enters the game without any players on its injury report, which only sharpens the pressure on Arizona to clean up a pass rush that has been part of the conversation all week.

Coach Mike LaFleur has already pointed to the recent struggles up front and said the team has spent its prep time trying to get sharper for Sunday. For a Cardinals defense trying to create more disruption, Sweats status looms large because the difference between a manageable rotation and a real concern can show up quickly when a game plan hinges on getting to the quarterback. Giants Quarterback Plan Leaves One Big Cardinals Question Unanswered

The Giants are heading into their matchup with the Cardinals with a clear answer at one of the most important spots on the field, as veteran Jameis Winston is set to start while the offense continues to bring J.J. McCarthy along. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said McCarthy still needs more time to learn the system before he can be trusted in a meaningful game, leaving New York to lean on a familiar hand as it prepares for Arizona.

For the Cardinals, the bigger issue may be how much uncertainty still hangs over the Giants quarterback room beyond Winston. McCarthys status for the game remains unclear, and Jake Haener is expected to serve as the primary backup, which leaves Arizona waiting to see exactly what kind of depth chart it will be dealing with by kickoff.
