The Arizona Cardinals have already done business with two players during training camp, but the list of possible contract extensions doesn’t stop there.
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett got a bump in pay when his contract was redone, and center Hjate Froholdt landed a two-year extension worth $20 million that keeps him under contract through 2028. Beyond those moves, a few more names are in play - some with known talks, some with only questions hanging over them.
One of the clearest candidates is wide receiver Michael Wilson. He’s coming off a career season and is entering the final year of his deal, while general manager Monti Ossenfort has already said he wants Wilson around for a long time.
Even so, there hasn’t been any reported movement on an agreement. Wilson is looking for a contract that lines up with the wide receiver market, a number that would push him above $20 million per year.
Paris Johnson is in a different spot, but he’s also on the extension radar. The Cardinals picked up his fifth-year team option, which keeps him under contract through 2027 and will pay him more than $19 million next year. Johnson wants to be a $40 million-per-year player, and there have been talks between the sides.
Linebacker Mack Wilson is another possible extension case. He’s in the final year of a three-year contract and has become a leader for the team on and off the field.
His status is tied in part to the future of defensive coordinator Nick Rallis, who is uncertain beyond this season. As the defensive quarterback in the middle of the field, Wilson makes sense as a player Arizona would want to keep.
At the same time, he’s also viewed as a pretty average linebacker.
Then there’s cornerback Garrett Williams, whose situation is the trickiest of the group. He’s in the final year of his contract, but his NFL résumé is still uneven: in three seasons, he has played one full one.
He was one of the best slot corners in the league analytically in 2024, yet his injury history complicates everything. He missed half of his rookie season after suffering a torn ACL in college and then had two stints on injured reserve last season.
Williams was just activated from PUP and could be ready for Week 1. Still, with last year’s injuries and struggles in the mix, the Cardinals may decide it isn’t the right time to extend him. If he stays healthy and plays well again, he would be in line for a better payday next offseason.

The Cardinals had to make a pair of quick roster moves this week, bringing in punter Jack Browning and safety Josh Minkins as they work through the final stretch of preseason.
