When an NFL team racks up 26 losses over two seasons, it's clear that changes are needed. It's no surprise the head coach was shown the door.
Now, the focus shifts to filling gaps and bringing in fresh talent. That's where free agency comes into play.
Next month, the NFL draft will offer another chance for GM Monti Ossenfort to address what free agency couldn't.
With the NFL league year kicking off on Thursday, all those recent signings are about to become official. Ossenfort has already started revamping the roster, particularly on offense.
But there's more work ahead. Strategic free agency moves could free up draft picks for other areas of need.
There's still talent available, and here are three players the Cardinals should consider:
OT Taylor Decker
Coming off a decade-long stint with the Detroit Lions, Taylor Decker is a seasoned veteran at 32. Standing at 6’7” and 324 pounds, he's the second-ranked free agent tackle this year. His availability might be due to ongoing negotiations over contract details like length and financial terms.
Arizona's offensive line could use Decker's expertise. Ossenfort has already added OT Matt Pryor and OG Isaac Seumalo to the mix.
With 140 NFL starts, Decker is a durable and exceptional pass blocker. Despite dealing with a persistent shoulder injury, he delivered an above-average season last year.
He’s a reliable left tackle option, even contemplating retirement before last season.
If you're wondering why Decker and Rasheed Walker remain unsigned, it likely boils down to contract expectations and the market dynamics, including Trent Williams' trade request.
Projection: Two years, $21 million
S Andre Cisco
At 25, Andre Cisco is a promising safety who missed part of last season due to a pectoral injury but is expected to be ready for training camp. With the departure of Jalen Thompson to the Cowboys, the Cardinals need a replacement.
Cisco, with 55 NFL starts, had a strong start last season with 41 tackles in eight games. Known for his versatility and instincts, he can play both in the box and deep. Despite some missed tackles, he's aggressive and supports the run effectively.
Projection: Two years, $20 million
EDGE Joey Bosa
Why not go after Joey Bosa? The Cardinals have snagged big names on their way out before, like J.J.
Watt. Bosa could be a game-changer for Arizona's pass rush alongside Josh Sweat.
While Ossenfort might be eyeing a defensive end in the upcoming draft, Bosa offers immediate impact. Despite being on the wrong side of 30, his performance remains strong.
Last season, he recorded 29 tackles and five sacks in 15 games, bringing his career total to 77 sacks. As a situational rusher, he still excels with his speed-to-power moves and relentless effort.
Adding Bosa could elevate the Cardinals’ defense, providing a veteran presence and proven pass-rushing skills.
