Training camp has already started to reshape the Arizona Cardinals’ cornerback room, and Friday brought both a setback and a fresh addition.
Jaden Davis was spotted leaving the practice field with a trainer and a steady limp, and the Cardinals later placed him on IR. That ends his season unless he is waived with an injury settlement.
Davis had been fighting for room in a crowded cornerback group. The Cardinals drafted him in the seventh round in 2024, cut him on the final day of roster trimming, and then signed him to the practice squad. He later landed a reserve/futures deal in 2025, suffered a knee injury that sent him to IR, and was brought back before appearing in three games and recording three special teams tackles.
To fill the opening, Arizona signed Quinton Newsome, a 6-foot, 195-pound corner who most recently played for the Houston Gamblers of the UFL. Newsome went undrafted in 2024, signed with the Denver Broncos, and has spent parts of the last two seasons with Denver, including multiple practice squad stints.
In the UFL, Newsome was drafted by the Gamblers and finished 21st in the league with 44 total tackles. He also added two tackles for loss.
He ran a 4.58 in the 40. At Nebraska, he played in 53 games as a pandemic fifth-year senior and finished with 149 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, 17 batted passes, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
There’s also been talk that the Cardinals are signing DT Brodric Martin, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound former third-round pick of the Detroit Lions, though the front office has not announced anything official yet.
Arizona’s camp schedule continues with practice on Sunday, August 2, and Monday, August 3. Both sessions are set for 4:00 p.m. and run until around 6:00 p.m.

In The Athletics 2026 NFL team rankings, the Cardinals landed near the bottom of the league, a harsh reminder that even a reset comes with plenty of proving to do before anyone in the NFC West starts taking them seriously again.
