The Cardinals walked out of Dallas with one of those wins that sticks in a fan’s memory for a long time, a 33-30 overtime escape that had just about everything. Arizona needed a comeback, needed a late spark, and needed a walk-off field goal to finish the job after a game packed with momentum swings.
The biggest turning point came at quarterback. Jacoby Brissett opened the night with the offense stuck in the mud, and Arizona had only three points when the Cardinals made a change late in the third quarter and turned to Gardner Minshew.
That switch changed the game. Minshew helped lead a surge that produced 30 points and ended with Arizona celebrating in Dallas.
Minshew finished with 188 yards and three touchdowns on 17 of 23 passing, and he looked comfortable working through the offense. The ball came out fast, the decisions were sharp, and the Cardinals finally started moving with purpose.
His defining throw came with the game hanging in the balance, when he fired a dime to Michael Wilson in the end zone with six seconds left. That touchdown tied the score at 30-30, and even though Arizona missed the extra point, the play forced overtime and set up the eventual win.
There’s a limit to what Minshew can do outside structure, and Cardinals fans shouldn’t expect him to turn into Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes. But compared with Brissett, he gave the offense cleaner operation and better distribution.
Wilson was a huge part of that surge. After a quieter start to 2026, he broke out against Dallas with 8 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
A lot of those grabs came outside the numbers, where there’s not much margin for error. That mattered even more against a Cowboys secondary that includes Joey Porter Jr. and Caleb Downs, two players in a group that is one of the better parts of that defense.
The run game got rolling too, and the offensive line deserves plenty of credit for it. Tyler Allgeier turned in a massive night, rushing for 147 yards on 11 carries and averaging 13.4 yards per attempt.
Arizona’s defense also had some real moments. The Cardinals got four sacks on Dak Prescott, a respectable total and a welcome sign for a defensive line that has not been strong at getting to the quarterback.
Roy Lopez stood out as well. His stat line was modest with two tackles, but his energy showed up in key moments and made a bigger impression than the numbers suggest.
Still, this wasn’t a clean performance. The Cardinals had trouble in the red zone early, and Jeremiyah Love struggled before leaving with an injury.
He finished with 23 rushing yards. Arizona also hurt itself with nine penalties for 77 yards, the kind of self-inflicted damage that keeps showing up even in Mike LaFleur’s first season.
And once again, the slow start was part of the story.
That’s the tension with this Cardinals team. They can be electric, messy, and dangerous all in the same game.
This one had the highs in full view, but the lows were there too. Next up, Arizona heads to Seattle to face the defending champion Seahawks.

Cardinals Beat Cowboys But Suddenly Face A Brutal Injury Problem
The Cardinals got the kind of win that can steady a season, edging the Cowboys in overtime, but the mood in the aftermath was tempered by a long injury list that kept growing as the game wore on. Arizona was already navigating a physical night, and by the time it was over the team was dealing with issues across multiple position groups, from the backfield to the offensive line to the receiving corps.
Mike LaFleur said some of the injuries could cost players multiple weeks, and some could linger even longer, which is the bigger concern for a team trying to build on a hard-fought road win. Jeremiyah Love, Kendrick Bourne, Bam Knight, Jayden Williams, Reggie Virgil and Michael Wilson all came out of the game hurt in different ways, leaving the Cardinals with a victory on the scoreboard and a much murkier outlook heading into the next stretch. Cardinals Win Had Cowboys Calling Out Their Own Defense
The Cowboys overtime loss to the Cardinals left more than a bad result on the scoreboard. Dallas had controlled much of the game before Arizona rallied to pull out a 33-30 win, and the postgame focus quickly shifted to the defense after linebacker DeMarvion Overshown called out the units second-half performance and said the group has to be better.
Jerry Jones tried to steady the conversation by saying he is not looking at coaching changes right now, but the pressure around the defensive staff is only going to grow if the Cowboys keep fading late. For a team that expected its defense to set the tone, the way this one slipped away made the questions harder to avoid, even if the answers are still to come. [Read more 🡒]
Budda Baker Trade Buzz Puts Cardinals Fans On Edge
Trade chatter around Budda Baker has put a familiar Cardinals storyline back in the spotlight as the November 10 deadline approaches. The longtime safety and captain remains one of the most recognizable faces on the roster, and the idea of Arizona even entertaining offers for him has naturally grabbed attention because of what he means to the defense and to the franchises identity.
The speculation comes at a time when the Cardinals are widely expected to be active sellers, with other players potentially on the move as the deadline nears. Baker has already acknowledged the business side of the NFL, which is why the rumor mill has felt especially uneasy for fans, even if there is still a strong sense around the league that this is a situation worth watching rather than assuming it will end with a deal.
