The injury bug continues to bite in Arizona, and this time it’s taken down two more key contributors. The Cardinals announced that wide receiver Andre Baccellia and running back Zonovan “Bam” Knight have both been placed on injured reserve, adding to a growing list of setbacks for a team already navigating a challenging season.
Baccellia’s injury comes after a frightening hit in the game against the Houston Texans that saw him carted off the field. While there’s no official word yet on the extent of the injury, the move to IR confirms he’ll be sidelined for at least the next four games. Knight, who had been working to carve out a role in the backfield rotation, also lands on IR, thinning out Arizona’s depth at a position that’s already seen its fair share of turnover this year.
In response to the roster shakeup, the Cardinals have made a series of moves to retool both the active roster and the practice squad. Wide receiver Jalen Brooks has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, stepping into a receiving corps that’s looking for answers and stability. Brooks will have an opportunity to prove himself in live action, and with Baccellia out, the door is wide open for him to earn meaningful snaps.
Arizona also added some muscle up front by signing offensive lineman Marques Cox to the practice squad. Cox, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound rookie, entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos after finishing his college career at Kentucky.
He brings a wealth of experience, having started 59 of 61 games in college, including all 12 games in 2024 for the Wildcats. Cox began his college journey at Northern Illinois before transferring to Kentucky for his final two seasons, and now he gets his shot to develop in the desert.
He’ll wear jersey No. 61.
The Cardinals also re-signed safety Patrick McMorris to the practice squad. McMorris, who previously spent time with the team, returns to provide depth in the secondary.
He’ll wear No. 35.
Meanwhile, offensive lineman Trey Wedig has been released from the practice squad as part of the roster reshuffling.
All these moves were made at the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Center in Tempe, where the front office continues to adjust on the fly. With injuries piling up and young players being called into action, the final stretch of the season is shaping up to be a test of depth, development, and resilience for this Arizona squad.
