Ducks Stun Sabres In Overtime Thriller At Honda Center

The Ducks showcased remarkable tenacity, overcoming a late Sabres rally to secure an overtime victory, maintaining their unbeaten record when leading after two periods.

The Anaheim Ducks treated fans to a rollercoaster of emotions at the Honda Center, facing off against the Buffalo Sabres in a game that had everything from early goals to a thrilling overtime finish. With Ville Husso in net for the Ducks and Alex Lyon for the Sabres, the matchup promised excitement from the start.

Buffalo's Alex Tuch wasted no time, lighting the lamp just over three minutes into the game. But Anaheim's Chris Kreider answered back on the power play, firing a one-timer from the right face-off circle to level the score.

The Ducks weren't done yet. Jackson LaCombe unleashed a powerful shot from the blue line, finding the back of the net through a sea of players, pushing Anaheim ahead. However, Josh Doan responded for Buffalo, tying the game at two before the first intermission.

Early in the second period, Beckett Sennecke showcased his skill, slipping the puck past Lyon with a slick low glove-side shot. Troy Terry then extended Anaheim’s lead, deftly maneuvering in the slot and beating Lyon stick side with a backhand, giving the Ducks a 4-2 cushion heading into the final period.

The third period saw Buffalo storm back with a vengeance. Jack Quinn, Owen Power, and Zach Benson each found the net, flipping the script and putting the Sabres up 5-4, much to the dismay of Ducks fans.

With time ticking away, Anaheim pulled Husso for an extra skater during a power play. Mikael Granlund seized the moment, scoring from the slot to force overtime.

In the extra session, it was Terry again, delivering a backhand beauty over Lyon’s shoulder to seal a 6-5 victory for the Ducks. The win showcased Anaheim's resilience and flair for the dramatic.

Breaking down the game, Anaheim's power play was a decisive factor, converting on three out of four opportunities while keeping Buffalo scoreless on their three chances. Terry's clutch performance, including his game-winning goal, highlighted his critical role in the Ducks' success.

Kreider, LaCombe, and Sennecke also shone brightly, each contributing a goal and an assist. Despite a shaky start to the third period, the Ducks demonstrated their tenacity and ability to rally when it mattered most.
