Danny Kanell wasted no time firing back at Nick Saban after the former Alabama coach doubled down on his belief that the SEC still sits above the ACC.
Saban, now working as an ESPN analyst, said there was nothing that would ever change his mind about the conference hierarchy. He also took a playful shot at Miami coach Mario Cristobal, who used to work on his staff.
“This guy is the best salesman in the history of ball,” Saban joked about Cristobal, his former assistant coach. “He’s a great recruiter. If he ever gets fired, he’ll be the best used car salesman in south Florida, I guarantee it.”
From there, Saban made his case for the SEC’s depth and brushed aside the ACC argument.
“He calls me up with this ACC bulls--t.
“He’s always trying to convince me the ACC’s better than the SEC. The SEC has nine teams in the top 25.
That’s all I know. It’s a deep conference.
It just is.
“The Big Ten is a really good conference and getting better when it comes to depth, but really good at the top with Ohio State and Oregon.
“He’s never going to convince me - never - that the ACC is better than the SEC.”
Kanell, the former Florida State quarterback, responded just hours later on social media and went straight at Saban’s comments.
“Company man Saban is the one slinging that SEC BS,” Kanell posted on social media. “After losing to two ACC teams in regular season, the Canes man-handled Texas AM at Kyle Field - the place every SEC fan says is impossible to win.

“The Canes are 5-0 vs SEC in last 5 games.”

Noah Rogers is back on the practice field for Alabama, a notable turn after the transfer receiver went down with a knee injury during the A-Day scrimmage.
