The New York Giants have decided to bring back a familiar face, re-signing former first-round pick Evan Neal. Despite a rocky four-year stint with the team, the offensive lineman is getting another shot under new head coach John Harbaugh.
Selected seventh overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Neal's journey with the Giants has been anything but smooth. After struggling at offensive tackle, the team tried shifting him to guard in hopes of tapping into his potential. Unfortunately, this move didn't yield the desired results, and Neal found himself as a healthy scratch for much of the 2025 season.
With the Giants opting not to pick up his fifth-year option, Neal hit free agency this offseason. Yet, the team sees value in giving him another opportunity, hoping that Harbaugh's fresh perspective might unlock Neal's capabilities.
During his time in New York, Neal has participated in 29 games, starting 27 of them. His college career at Alabama was impressive, showcasing his versatility across the offensive line. Neal was instrumental in the Crimson Tide's national championship victory in 2020 and earned accolades as a First Team All-SEC player and consensus All-American in 2021.
This reunion could be a pivotal moment for both Neal and the Giants, as they look to reshape their offensive line and capitalize on his potential.
