Jerry Jeudy Suddenly Faces Another Tough NFL Turning Point

Can Jerry Jeudy revive his faltering NFL career as he faces a pivotal moment with the Cleveland Browns?

Jerry Jeudy has hit a rough patch that feels bigger than just a bad stretch of games.

The former Alabama star, once one of the more hyped receiver prospects in recent memory, is now staring at a potential move ahead of the NFL trade deadline after fading out of Cleveland’s offense. Through five games this season, Jeudy has just eight catches for 81 yards on 15 targets, a steep drop from the player the Browns thought they were getting.

Jeudy’s path has been uneven from the start. Denver took him with the 15th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the Broncos passed on receivers including CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Brandon Aiyuk and Tee Higgins to do it. That kind of draft slot comes with a heavy burden, and Jeudy never fully matched it in Denver.

There were flashes, though. As a rookie, he produced 52 receptions for 856 yards and three touchdowns.

He then stumbled in Year 2 before bouncing back with 972 yards in 15 games in 2022. Still, the consistency never really showed up the way teams hoped it would.

Denver eventually traded the Deerfield Beach, Fl. native to the Cleveland Browns in March 2024, and the change of scenery initially looked like it might unlock something. In his first season with Cleveland, Jeudy posted 90 catches for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns, the kind of production that suggested a breakout was finally coming.

Instead, last season brought another downturn. Jeudy finished with 50 receptions for 602 yards and two scores, and this year his role has shrunk even further.

The 27-year-old has also fallen behind rookies Denzel Boston and K.C. Concepcion in the Browns’ receiver pecking order, which makes a trade look increasingly likely.

The question now is whether another team can still tap into the player who looked so promising at Alabama. He had the size, speed, hands and route-running chops to dominate there, but that complete package has never consistently surfaced in the NFL.

At this point, Jeudy looks like a player who may be valued as a late Day 3 pick in a deal. A contender could still swoop in before Nov. 10 and give him a meaningful role, but right now his NFL future feels very much up in the air.

Alabama Sent A Strong Message After That Ugly Georgia Incident

The aftermath of Alabamas game with Georgia turned ugly for reasons that had nothing to do with the scoreboard. A video circulating after the contest showed an Alabama fan slapping Georgia linebacker Raylen Wilson across the helmet, a moment that quickly drew attention for all the wrong reasons and put the program in the spotlight beyond the field.

Alabama athletics moved fast once the individual was identified, handing down a lifetime ban from future Alabama sporting events. The school also publicly addressed the incident, making clear that conduct like that will not be tolerated, a message meant as much for the fan base as anyone else watching what has become an increasingly scrutinized sideline and stadium atmosphere. Alabama Is Testing How Real Its Auburn Flip Push Really Is

Alabamas 2027 class is already taking shape with 15 commitments, and the current ranking sits 34th nationally as the staff leans into a smaller haul after back-to-back large classes. The Tide still have work to do up front, though, especially on the defensive line, where theyre continuing to circle a couple of targets who could change the look of the group before the cycle settles in.

One of the more interesting names is Auburn commit MJ Evans, whose scheduled visit to Tuscaloosa on Oct. 24 will offer a real gauge of how serious Alabamas push has become. The Tide are also involved with former Memphis commit Joshua Lane, who has visits lined up for Alabama and Tennessee, giving this next stretch a chance to shape whether the class stays compact or gets a late boost from a few key additions. Sabans Coaching Influence Just Showed Up In An Unlikely Alabama Story

Ryder Burtons latest moment in the spotlight came in a place Alabama fans dont always expect to be looking, with UABs quarterback helping guide the Blazers to a 30-17 overtime win against East Carolina. Burtons night included a 97-yard touchdown drive to force overtime, but it was his postgame comments and the little details around the game that linked the story back to Tuscaloosa in an unexpected way.

Burton also drew attention for wearing a backwards baseball cap during the overtime coin toss after helmet equipment issues, a quirky scene that stood out in a tense finish. Afterward, he talked about coach Alex Mortensen and mentioned watching a documentary tied to Mortensens former coach, Nick Saban, a reminder that Sabans coaching tree still shows up in odd, easy-to-miss places around the state.
