The Miami Dolphins are making some significant roster changes. After releasing four players earlier this week, including standout wide receiver Tyreek Hill, they're now eyeing a move involving their defensive star.
Minkah Fitzpatrick, the defensive back who originally kicked off his NFL journey with Miami as a first-round pick in 2018, is reportedly on the trading block, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Fitzpatrick's career took off after he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019, just 18 games into his stint with the Dolphins. In Pittsburgh, he blossomed into one of the league’s premier safeties, earning five Pro Bowl selections, three All-Pro nods, and leading the league in interceptions in 2022.
In a twist of fate, the Steelers traded Fitzpatrick back to Miami ahead of the 2025 season in exchange for Jalen Ramsey.
With free agency looming in 2027, Fitzpatrick is set to earn $18 million in the final year of his contract. This move comes as Miami is also exploring trade options for another Alabama alum, starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, signaling a potential shake-up in their roster strategy.
