Derrick Henry isn’t hiding what drives him heading into 2026: he wants a ring, and he wants it now.
The Baltimore Ravens have spent the past decade living in the shadow of the AFC’s heavyweights, with the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs often owning the top of the conference. This year, Baltimore is back on the short list of teams expected to chase a Super Bowl run, and Henry is a central piece of that push.
“I want to win a Super Bowl. That’s a big motivation,” Henry, said on the team’s podcast, The Lounge.
He didn’t stop there.
“I just want to be able to feel that feeling. I’m tired of watching.
Every year, I’m tired of being at home on the couch watching. I want to be a part of it.
That’s what’s motivating me right now. I’m going to keep going until we get to that point.
We have the 2026 season to get that accomplished.”
Henry has wanted that kind of stage since entering the league in 2016, and his arrival in Baltimore in 2024 was supposed to give the Ravens a dangerous pairing with Lamar Jackson. The expectation was clear: Super Bowl trips should be within reach. Instead, the finish line has remained out of grasp.
Last season brought another painful miss. A missed field goal cost the Ravens the AFC North title and a playoff spot, leaving Henry, Jackson and the rest of Baltimore once again without a Lombardi trophy.
“It would be crazy for me to say I played with Lamar Jackson and we didn’t win no championships,” Henry said. “I cannot have that.
I do not want that to be a thing. We’ve got to do it.”
Baltimore opens the 2026 season on the road against the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 13.
