Chris Kapilovic has made a notable move in the storied Iron Bowl rivalry, trading his Alabama allegiance for a role with Auburn. After being released from his position as Alabama’s offensive line coach during Kalen DeBoer’s staff reshuffle, Kapilovic has joined Alex Golesh’s Auburn staff as an offensive analyst.
Kapilovic brings a wealth of experience to Auburn, having previously served at Michigan State from 2020 to 2023. There, he wore multiple hats as the assistant head coach, offensive line coach, and run game coordinator. His coaching journey spans over 30 years, with stints at Colorado, North Carolina, Southern Miss, Missouri State, and Alabama State, among others.
Now part of Golesh's inaugural team at Auburn, Kapilovic will work alongside Joel Godron, the newly appointed offensive coordinator, and Tyler Hudanick, who takes on the role of offensive line coach after following Golesh from USF.
As the 2026 football season approaches, fans are already buzzing about College Football Playoff prospects. Alabama, fresh off a CFP appearance last season, holds a 40% chance of returning according to the prediction market, Kalshi. Meanwhile, Auburn, eager to make its mark, has a 23% chance of breaking through this year.
